Just checked, in 2009 Brisbane State High had 9 players selected for Aus Schools I.
These players were: Curtis Browning, Paul Alo-Emile, Jordan Taupou, Rohan Saifolai, Joe O'Regan, Matt Ika, Chris F'Sautia, Matt Garland, Tyson Frizell.
No idea what happened to half of them. Taupou is a leagiue, Browning is floating around the Brisbane Club rugby scene, F'Sautia is with the Reds.

I just finished watching the Aus v Arg match at the junior world champs: bloody hell we (senior and junior teams) are not mudlarks, are we.
I know this is not on the topic, but i am hoping someone can fill in some details about Curtis Browning. I know Curtis made the Aust Schoolboys from Qld last year.
My question is: does anyone know his background. I knew of a Curtis Browning a few years ago from Western Sydney, who was a talented field athletic (javelin, shot putt & discus) and a very good rugby league footballer. I'm sure his family moved to Brisbane about 5-6 years ago. Is this the same young fellow?

Looks stronger, smells stronger, feels stronger but I've seen this so many times only to be proved wrong.
A majority of the NSW lads are from our GPS and their competition hasn't started yet, but they've played in quite a few trial games including 2 rep trials; so it shouldn't affect them too much.
I was looking at my team of the tournament from the national U/16 competition last year and there were 9 of the 15 from north of the Tweed River; so the if we are looking at things on paper we have to look at them.
From the U/16 Queenslanders that I picked I notice that the 9 are all in the 2012 Queensalnd Ones XV except flanker Wilkin, flyhalf Paai'aua and LHP Sala. Sala was a smokey, but are the other two injured - or involved with league comps?
Gun 12 Stewart from NSW has been out for a while and has been picked at 13 and another centre, Milne, has been put on the wing.
The NSW Ones team should be quite strong but I don't like the front row - or rather the props. I haven't seen the Qld 5 or 8 play before but I've got the feeling that the Qld forwards should have the edge.
Watch out for 6. Dempsey from NSW as I think that he and Tuttle of Queensland will be two of the stars of the tournament.
PS - As well as playing for Oz A Schools v England last year, Rorke was selected for the Oz Schools Ones bench v NZ but was injured and could not play.

QLD in the same boat, season starts term 3 but similar to NSW trial games and rep trials have kept them involved with footy and it shouldnt effect them at all

QLD 6. Gunn isn't too bad either. Is McIntyre a natural 15 or a 10 converted? Also where is Gutherson? Would have to say QLD looks stronger in that position with Placid run-on and Greene on the bench. The battle for wing spots should be interesting too, from reading the NSW threads Kellaway seems to be the gun winger down south while Ioane is a fairly solid player too.
Agree with you regarding the QLD forward pack, none really set the world on fire but the tight 5 have played with each other numerous times and has a very strong GPS influence. Rorke should get the gig as one lock, my other tip would be 4. Korczyk but you never know what other states might offer. 13. Humphreys is a unknown quality right now, real smokey IMO. Has made both QLD 1 League and Union this year and could give Stewart a run for his money if Jim isn't fit or in form. 8. Fakaosilea is much like Tasi from last year in that he is just a brutal ball runner and likes the contact, also known for having a short temper which could make things interesting.

Well, if Gunn is better than Dempsey then Oz Schools is going to have a fine 6 this year indeed.
I saw Gunn play for the Qld Twos in the 2011 U/16 tournament and he did not take my eye, though that doesn't mean a lot, and one year can make a huge amount of difference anyway.
As for the wingers: I believe that Gutherson, who you asked about, is already contracted by the Manly Sea Eagles. Kellaway, who you mentioned played fullback in the NSW trials but the NSW selectors wanted to get both McIntyre and the good all-round flyhalf Horwitz into the XV - so they picked McIntyre at 15.
It's not the worst idea, even though there are probably 3 other NSW trialists who are better fullbacks, maybe 4. Sometimes selectors choose players to play at a higher level because they are big match players and McIntyre is that.
That doesn't explain why 13. Milne is on the wing rather than partnering Newington team mate 12. Moeroa in the NSW Ones or Twos. If they wanted to play a centre on the wing they should have chosen the multi-talented Foketi, who is faster than Milne anyway. Instead, he is playing in the Twos
In other words: there is a lack of specialisation in the NSW Ones back line and a whiff of compromise.
As for the Qld 8: NSW has one of his type in the Twos, but Whiteley in the Ones is a different player altogether: a skills 8, who I have seen play at 12 with aplomb. This is probably OK because NSW Ones has two locks who run over folks and 6.Dempsey runs through them with leg drive.
But here we go again, or at least I do: writing about the Ones players of both big rugby states yet knowing that there are Twos players who should have been in the Ones from both states who will be the apple of a few selectors' eyes. And not even knowing (as I write this), who is in the Combined States, ACT, Vic and WA teams - and even if we did, not knowing the merit of a lot of them.
But it keeps us off the streets which must be of benefit to the general populace.
