not all need to be in CBD…. But at least those other Sydney ‘suburban’ stadiums are in urban hubs with access and ammenities .

Tarneit was an urban fringe, green-field development.

MacArthur FC was also backed by a property developer Walker Corporation(ironically a rugby union fan), but they played it a bit differently and pushed to play them at Cambleton Stadium an existing stadium in the area in order to get council buy in for approval of their developments in the region.
Traneit is a hugely populated area already and is only growing. I never felt there was the demand for a second rectangular stadium in Melbourne but I understood what they were trying to do. As Western United stood no chance of success playing at AMMI with Victory and City

Is it actually there own side? It'll be a success in Canberra but I'm sure GWS aren't happy about it.
It’s not confirmed but they are bidding for the 20th license and they have the best business case for inclusion.

The West Australian Football Commission has ruled out a third WA team. Norwood has stated its intention to bid, the NT will bid and potentially Cairns.

Canberra compared to those other options is head and shoulders above regardless of the talent hotbeds in the NT. Environmentally it would be so hard to have a team there and yes they would play most of the year in the dry season but the start and ends would be touching the wet season which is chaos. That's also a hard sell to get guys up there to live long term.

With the Raiders doing well and ACT AFL side is shit for Rugby to be pushed down again like I think they will be in Perth when the NRL arrives an brings their machine with them.

Only a third WA team could compete from a business perspective but that will never happen when the WA football commission opposes the bid
