not all need to be in CBD…. But at least those other Sydney ‘suburban’ stadiums are in urban hubs with access and ammenities .

Tarneit was an urban fringe, green-field development.

MacArthur FC was also backed by a property developer Walker Corporation(ironically a rugby union fan), but they played it a bit differently and pushed to play them at Cambleton Stadium an existing stadium in the area in order to get council buy in for approval of their developments in the region.

Traneit is a hugely populated area already and is only growing. I never felt there was the demand for a second rectangular stadium in Melbourne but I understood what they were trying to do. As Western United stood no chance of success playing at AMMI with Victory and City

Macarthur region also has an established population of over 250k now and it’s growing quickly.

Tarniet, Truganina, Point Cook, Hoopers Crossing and Wyndham Vale would easily match that population level

Also with the 20th AFL team looking set for the ACT and 18th NRL team looking set for Perth the challenge to keep super rugby relevant is growing

That's also a hard sell to get guys up there to live long term.

Only a third WA team could compete from a business perspective but that will never happen when the WA football commission opposes the bid
