Exactly the kind of shitshow I would expect from Rugby Australia not to get anything actually in a formal contract lmao:

Merci monsieur highlander. What does it actually say?

FFR had previously agreed to give RA €1million euro as a share of grate takings and a % of the broadcast rights for the match, however FFR are now saying that deal was done with the old management (Laporte) and aren’t honouring it as apparently no written agreement was ever signed and it was only a verbal agreement between FFR and RA.

FFR are complaining that they’ve inherited a deficit of €20 million so are trying to cut costs and save money across the organisation.

Imagine dealing with Laporte and not getting EVERYTHING signed, and getting your lawyers to dot your is and cross your ts.

France being France and are defo at fault, but it doesn't stop it being unbearably naïve and/or incompetent on the part of Rugby Australia.
FFR are the one‘s reneging on a verbal agreement here, even in France verbal agreements are enforceable. Yes should have been written, but the bigger issue here is FFR reneging on a pretty standard agreement between nations when hosting each other outside of test windows.

RA are well within their right to demand that the original agreement be honoured.

It's certainly at least the third time in the past decade that "Potential legal issue that's not the fault of the RA executive emerges that an appropriate written contract could have saved time and money protecting them from bad faith actions of other parties" accurately describes the situation.

How the hell are they running a union based on verbal agreements? jesus christ the incompetence of these blokes. It's like risk management 101. They could've pulled a generic contract from the internet for free ffs.

I'm with Qwerty, they should pull the match.
