A solution to that could be playing it in the same window as the 6Ns. We've seen the Rebels form a partnership with a Japanese club that will likely feature in the proposed league. The other 4 (I'm including the Force) could form similar partnerships and send players to Japan to play. The respective national unions from the PIs could look to do similar.

Once that season is done the national squad players can assemble and play a 5 or so game schedule.

After that. A 14 team AP centric competition could be formed featuring our 5, NZ 5 plus the Jaguars, a Fijian squad, a combined Islander team plus one more. Single round robin. Finishing by June.

The key will be managing player loads. If the Aus franchises form partnerships they could mandate set rest periods for national squad members as not to overload them. Manage their minutes etc.

That. Or we do what I thought we should have done from the beginning and designate are X number of squad players for PI players as a means of including them in the equation.

RA need to do something with Japan, such an important market. The pay on offer is only going to increase, Japan is the third largest economy and half their country just watched the Japan v Scotland game, RA would be wise to involve them more. Have them in GRR or Super Rugby and say any aus players playing in those comps, whether for Aus teams or foreign ones are eligible regardless.

Issue is, there are plans in the works for a revamped Top League from 2021 and beyond which will be fully professional running from Sept - Feb. So any involvement at that level is unlikely unless we take drastic steps in regards to our seasons.

Even makes getting them involved in TRC difficult

Yeah. There's the possibility of moving the RC to the same window as the 6Ns and then play Super Rugby considering its reverting back to the 14 team single round robin format. Could have players play in the Japanese league. Play the RC and then Super Rugby. Or something akin to that.

Potential to play the NRC at the same time as TRC/6 Nations as a lead into the Super season?

Or. The RC to kick the season off. Super Rugby. July Tests. And then a revamped NRC featuring the the 4 Super Rugby franchises alongside the Force and Fiji at a minimum. Potentially Tongan and Samoan squads. Featuring all of our best players.

Kick Argentina and South Africa out of Super Rugby, bring in two teams of combined Pacific Islanders and the Sunwolves. Have a super12 that is actually semi local with good time zones.

This, fuck off sth Africa to Europe and tell Pichot and his whiney Argentines to split the jaguars in two and enter into the American domestic comp they have going on

I get where every one is coming from, but Wallaby games in February? Error strewn sweat feats based on last year's form?

Not really very keen

Yeah I don't think that would work for us. Japan should be added to the Rugby Championship, but I don't think the window for the tournament can change much. Hopefully the new / revamped Japanese league could start in October instead of September.

Can we get some Qatari stadiums over here in Aus with some sweet, sweet airconditioning? (preferably without egregious violations of human rights and enslaving Nepalese workers)

You’ll probably get people complaining left right and centre about environmental impacts

Just chuck solar panels on the roof and ask Elon to give us a battery.

In all honestly, I could think of nothing worse than watching rugby in Summer. Tell the Northerners to play their rugby in their summer if we're concerned about having a similar playing schedule. But even then, why do we give a crap when they play rugby? It's too difficult for us in Australia and New Zealand to watch their games live.

Seems to be the best place for it; a look at Japan's plan for its new domestic rugby setup.

Japan Rugby Football Union vice-president Katsuyuki Kiyomiya told Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei that he wanted to leverage the success of the Japanese team at the Rugby World Cup to launch the 12-team new competition in the second half of 2021.

"This World Cup is a big event Japanese rugby has not experienced before and we are tested on how we take the excitement and enthusiasm created by this event to the next level," he said. "Now is the chance to start a professional league, which enables Japanese spectators to see star players in the World Cup 2019 playing at first hand, right in front of their eyes."

.....

Kiyomiya's plan is to recruit players from the southern hemisphere to give the competition star power and tee up a broadcasting deal with streaming giant DAZN, which already holds the rights to Japan's J-League football competition. "We will turn the new union into the Pacific Rim union that can generate [annual revenue of] about 50 billion yen [$NZ730 million], to be on a par with the European market," he said.

By "Pacific Rim union" I'm assuming he means the competition itself, as opposed to some new RA/NZR level federated setup. If so, might hint at some longer term plan to integrate Australia and New Zealand? Or could just be some translation fail.

I read it as his plan is to effectively recruit from SANZAAR nations. Though in a perfect world we'd have some level of integration. If those potential revenues ever eventuate we could see an exodus of sorts to the league of talent.
