I'm sure To'omua was, but even if he wasn't you still have to look to where you're throwing the ball in that situation...

That was all on Genia - if Powell or Phipps had made the same error the board would've shut down in the frenzy.
Thought Phipps played very well for his 12 minutes.

Genia also threw that pass to no one into the in goal, and then appeared to give To'omua a spray for it....

I thought it started with a Dempsey hit up, like plenty of our hit ups, straight into the sharpest point of opposition forward D and getting knocked back metres. No room for Genia to work.

Generally Dempsey had plenty of high points, not that one. Nor do I think a forward lethargy at kick off was all down to Dempsey.

But I don’t think Genia nor To'omua should be taking approprium without looking more broadly.

No he didn't Badger, he was TERRIBLE. Don't you know how this place works?

I'd be more than happy never to see him wear the gold again. For all of eternity.

You realise that these sort of responses are equally boorish?

I quite like Phipps though I don’t have an issue for calls to be testing another 9. TBH I don’t know how he went as I was in full throttle fast forward by that stage.

Not sure how to read your post. Thought you sarcastic then on second reading just like all the other Phipps haters.

I rate him. Supposed to be the fittest man ever to play rugby. He does get to the breakdown very quickly. Didn't spray any bad passes, had a run.

Apparently those who have played with him rate, and particularly the energy and work rate he brings.

I think he is a long way ahead of Powell and lineball or slightly ahead of Gordon.

equal high number of runs and equal high tackles made.
You can't deny his effort.

just rewatched 1st half on 1.25 speed

3 runs 0 m, 1.5m, 2.5m, that's 4m total
1 penalty given away
1 missed tackle
1 cover tackle
4 or 5 tackles with opponent running into him

must have had a big 2nd half as sio and kepu to name two did far more

If you're marking our backline on their ability to make one on one tackles every starting player barring Folau missed straight forward tackles and/or made huge defensive errors.

It was a shocker from our backs.

Shhhhh.... that’s not the narrative. It’s the forwards who win or lose matches. Talking about about backs is just missing the point

that's a lot of effort to go to for some good ol' fashion Hooper bashing. I'm impressed.

Questions that need answers

1. How is Rod Kafer still in the employ of Rugby Australia?

2. Mick Byrne was successful and highly regarded in the All Blacks structure, why has he had so little success in Australia?

3. Is Steven Larkham still the successor to Chekia, despite having a very underwhelming resume ?

4. Why can't Israel Folau take the ball to ground for a ruck?

5. Why can't Israel Folau kick?

6. Why do we have so many backs that can't defend in selected position?

7. Why do we over value attacking skills that simply are due to size and speed in schoolboy rugby which is utterly irrelevant when you play a Tier 1 nation test match? And yes this is a direct reference to Kerevi. His lazy running back to cover the kick from which England scored only to be over turned by TMO because it bounced on the line was disgraceful.

8. Why do we under value defensive skills in selecting players? In the NFL draft in America, 1st round draft picks favour the defensive team over offensive team picks!

9. Will the Canberra Mafia put Pat Howard forward for a role in Rugby Austalia?

10. Why is Rod Kafer still in the employ of Rugby Australia, is it the Canberra Mafia?

When the australian players play overseas their skills are quite decent.

When they play here, they seemingly can't execute the simplest of skills like catching or passing left to right.

I find it impossible to believe that the coaches in Australia are not trying to train these skills here (even the best of musicians do scales as a matter of routine and there's no way coaches here would damage their careers intentionally, surely). Mick Byrne was highly regarded by NZ setup, but seemingly can't do anything with our players here in Australia????

Is there some kind of organised body here in Australia that has some kind of collective power to set limitations on the amount and type of training that the players are allowed to do in a given period of time that somehow hampers what the coaches are trying to do with their teams? One that has 100% membership maybe, so has all the bargaining chips when it comes to negotiations with RA and the super rugby teams, yet doesn't exist overseas and therefore can't dictate terms to the European clubs?

The answer is probably the Canberra Mafia, the Ngunnawal’drangheta........

We probably should remember that Wessels has achieved less as a coach in Super Rugby than Cheika and Larkham...

and the game has moved on rather rapidly.

Cheika has achieved a lot as a Wallaby coach, then failed to update tactics to suit a changing game and become stagnant.

I dont think the Wallabies are worse now than when Cheika took over, other teams have improved or planned for games against us.

Wasn't having a crack at you Badger. Just the people who talk in sweeping absolutes, and live in a world where a few bad games mean that you should be ruled ineligible from all future selections.

That's what I thought you meant. But you actually said yourself you didn't want him to play again.
