The 50/22 I thought was harsh espically when you have a replay to look at .

Agreed - the law on 50/22 is that the line belongs to the team in possession. Kind of like being able to kick out on the full if your foot is on the 22.

To me, the player lands on the halfway line, and therefore that is a 50/22 to Australia. TMO and ref interpreted it incorrectly IMHO

Well, that certainly was 35 minutes of being out-thought and bashed silly until we realised there was a game of rugby underway.

The good news: Rennie is no idiot, so will prep the team differently for Saturday.
The bad news: he'll have to prep the team differently anyway because half of them will be injured.
We seem to have problems with being outplayed in the first half though. Perhaps England are just too good at shutting us down, but it feels like we struggle to address issues throughout the half.

We are however very good at addressing them at half time and adapting to the game.

How is this not attacking the head of an opponent?

Not sure we should be encouraging more cards. A bit grubby but not dangerous.
I reckon all that stuff - pseudo headbutt, hair pull, face push, chin brush in a tackle - just needs a penalty and a warning.
Save the cards for the real stuff.
They’re ruining the game as a spectacle.

I tend to agree but this is all about protecting the head and ‘being seen to be doing something’ when the inevitable litigation case comes around in the near future. I fail to see how the above images can work in WRs favour when that happens. If Genge doesn’t get cited then it’s pure bias.

And off the ball too
And a much smaller man. Genges elbows must’ve had the cloak of invisibility last night, nothing to see in that incident and when his elbow hits the floor first in a scrum, we have collapsed the scrum.

He wasn’t penalized from memory. Grub act. He wouldn’t get away with that in league, which has a different view on player welfare

It went to the TMO and a penalty was awarded.
It wasn’t a strike - just pressure on the head and a bit of niggle.
Appropriate.
And as the Stan commentators said there’s similar incidents in league every game.

Tariq Sims was sin binned for hitting Reynolds late in tonight’s NRL game.

Any questionable ref calls aside (and I really didn't think they were a big factor watching live), the Wallabies got out-thought by Eddie big time - the deft kicks behind the breakdowns finding grass every time were very effective; the return to mauling realising the maul defence was going to be worse etc.
Then, the Wallabies got seriously out-muscled at set-piece and the breakdown, and by the time they got some usable ball and actually played some rugby the game was pretty much gone; decent fight-back but at no stage in the match did I think the Wallabies would win.
Rennie is going need some creativity to get a team on the park that will contend, with such a massive injury count.
Ugly night.

I tend to disagree. I thought if FF (Folau Fainga'a) line-out was straight with the momentum we had we were a good chance to score which would have levelled the game. I think we had lots of moments in the second half we looked like we could win. Those JOC (James O'Connor) kicks and lineout errors were costly. I think the margin is that close between the teams.

I think this is a big positive, because despite being completely outmuscled we are capable of fighting back and putting ourselves in a winning position, just need to be that 2% more clinical. Now imagine if we match the contact-zone, should be a solid win.

Agree with this on giving the head/face a bit of a work over, but the second go he had putting pressure on White's throat/windpipe was pretty poor and would meet my criteria for dangerous.

Watch it real time. Not frame by frame. No referee is calling that before.

I can't even see a frame where Lawes and Genge are bound but Leota hasn't made contact yet.
It should be decided in real time, but, and it is a huge but, if other decisions are made in slow motion or frame by frame then surely all decisions should be.

The pressure on the head did not concern me, it was the throat work that should be of concern.

There was no chance of a suffocation but a real chance of injury to the throat that can cause all sort of issues.

Unbelievable that it did not get a card, what mitigation could possibly allow for this contact above the shoulders?
