Also, getting paid equivof $800k AUD a year to do something you dreamed of doing in an elite system with resources you could only dream of here in Australia... pretty fucken good if you ask me
It'd be an awesome experience, but I've always felt like American football would be a pretty dull game to play professionally - training must be just endless repetition of route-running and blocking.

It also involves huge amounts of studying film.

This is the biggest challenge for Petaia. He is at a huge disadvantage not having played the game all his life.

It's a free stab for a side as he is an extra on the roster and not taking a spot. The fact is being a TE is going to be really hard as hes pretty undersized for that spot as most would be at least 6'4 and heavier. Makes me think his speed and agility wasn't close to whats required for a WR (World Rugby).

Really? How large is said bag?

Of all the guys coming up for contracts he feels like one that would take a bit less to chase Gold and even play for the Force. We should rely on that and his form deserves a bump on whatever contract he's on given he was playing tier 2 English Rugby a couple of years ago.

"Life changing":
The 25-year-old Tizzano is certainly not a player Australian rugby would be happy to lose, but Rugby Confidential understands the Japanese deal he’s been offered is life-changing money.

Can never blame someone for wanting or taking that. Only so many years as an athlete to make as much as possible.

Unfortunately for him is the fact any negotiations are as the backup Wallabies 7 and not the starting one. We can't go giving silly money for the guy.

I expect we'll probably be able to retain Tizzano on a shorter deal, but it'd be hard justify more than 600k right now, and that probably needs to be Twiggy heavy. He seems pretty committed to pushing for the Wallabies spot so it might be enough to retain him through the world cup and push the decision down the road a bit. I'm guessing the offer was north of $1 million though, so he's going to have to take something like half to stay.

Might be an opportunity for a sabbatical too, it would have to be next year though, (or a longer deal to accommodate one not in the world cup year).

It's Liam Gill 2.0.

Tizzano has already had to move clubs as well due to be being pushed out by another 7. I reckon he's goneskies to Japan.
I don't know enough about either player to be sure here, but my sense is Tizzano's temperament is a little different to Gills. I'd wager that the pull of the gold jersey would be stronger for Tizzano in factoring into his decision making.

Would add to this - Gills chances of game time for the Wallabies were considerably worse in his time, than Tizzanos are now. Gill at the time was competing with both Hooper and Pocock for the jersey, whereas Tizzano is the clear number 2 and injury aside, is a bench option depending the strategic make up of the bench.

It damages us only IF Fraser misses a heap of games.

Japanese rugby have read the room - Fraser has signed up for a huge contract. There is fuck all money left for the second string openside to get paid anything decent.
I don't agree. Competition keeps standards high. Having a guy like Tizanno in the form that he is in is good for Fraser. Hell - if he keeps improving he could become even better than Fraser.

Setting that aside the Wallabies are a notoriously injury prone side AND are susceptible to massive drops in performance when said injuries inevitably eventuate.

The bleeding of second string talent is a big reason why we are so bad (if not THE reason).
