Watched that Agen v Toulon game with interest, as I didn’t realise McIntyre had signed for Agen. He looked reasonably composed & assured behind a big pack, & his kicking from hand was classy. Might suit him in France, as long as he can kick his goals. Hope he does well.

Best Australian hooker (and one of my favorite players) can't get a gig in Australia. This country is fucked.
The other teams all have multiple hookers signed and TPN would demand a higher salary than any of them.
It's unfortunate but if he wanted to get paid anything close to what he is worth it is unlikely to happen here.

I suppose really, TPN going is the ultimate risk that the ARU/RA were happy to take to "grow the game" - clusterf*ck level - 1 million. Well done Clyne & Co

He was already getting paid what he was worth at the Western Force - so it was already "happening here". Australia losing it's current 1st choice hooker is a blight on the EARU's decision to axe the Force.
Clearly we lose Australian based players from the decision. The primary reason for the decision has always been stated as a financial one as they believed they would be insolvent within a few years without cutting a team.

No one is suggesting there weren't a litany of massive mistakes that led up to this point in time. It's just a little pointless citing Taf having to go overseas as being a reason why this is a fuck up. It's a repercussion of the decision made, but there was never the premise that the cut was done entirely to weed out the weaker players. It was certainly a factor that they thought it would make the other four teams stronger.

Mate, people are pointing out the stupidity of the whole issue and the poor way it was handled which is exemplified by Australia losing its best hooker overseas. Yes what’s done is done, that doesn’t make people any less bitter nor will they quickly forget the issue. People aren’t just going to forget that their team was cut and 30 players positions removed, fallout of this decision and the anger of it will hang around for many years yet, and whilst the same people are in charge at the ARU there is nothing wrong with people voicing their frustrations an highlighting the stupidity of the whole decision.
The fallout from the culling of a team isn’t over yet, many more players and stars will be lost to the game in the future as a result.

He might be, he might not be. By all reports he was very happy in Perth but the reality was he only signed a one year contract there after originally signing with Bristol and then failing his medical due to his broken arm.
