My early predictions for premiership was Padua however I think villa are a underrated favourite, they had multiple grade 11s in the firsts this year all coming back including a talented number 10. Perennial powerhouses Marist and Iona are always going to be favourites aswell. Iona trying to defend a premiership and Marist determined to bounce back after a disappointing year in 2013. Can't wait for a cracking year of footy in 2014

inside goss is IONA'S premiership winning coach of 2013 has been recruited along with a QLD REDS ex development coach to VILLANOVA.. by the sounds of it a whole new rugby program at VILLA along with some new players who did not play school rugby at all in 2013
Wow! What controversy, I've also heard news of this and would be great to see the blokes from cooparoo back in contention after a lacklustre effort in 2013.

AIC 1 prediction

1-Tom O'Toole
2-Dominic dingwell (Iona)
3-?
4-Daniel bryne (Marist)
5-James Lancashire (Marist)
6-Connor Gentile (Padua)
7- Kain Humphries (eddies)
8-Patrick Bevridge
9-?
10-Jayden Carroll (Iona)
11- Regan Glynn (St Pats)
12-Carter Auld (St Edmunds)
13- Cameron Torphy (Villanova)
14-David Yabsley (Iona)
15-Clifton Setu (St Edmonds)

The number 9 spot is anyone's game as there was no standout 9's in the comp last year that are either returning or from the 16As comp. the number 10 spot narrowly to Jayden Carroll over Kendrick from Villa only because Iona will have a better year than Villa therefore Carroll will benefit from team success. Not too sure on the other prop.

14 Zac Odonnell (16As, 1st XV 2013)
15 Jordan Fewings (16As, 1st XV 2013)

This is a very good team with the likes of Gentile who represented QLD for the forwards. Padua certainly look dangerous however Fraser holding why is he considered, he has bulked up a bit but with more experienced hookers like Alister Wiseman and one of the Wilkies. Wasnt he going for a loose forward position ?? But the one I am glad that is in there is Michael Wazniyak. He will certainly but a major strike power in the AIC with his height and strength.

My prediction Padua will go undefeated followed by the Eddies team and Iona.
2014 is looking like a good year

Surely Lawson Creighton will make the 1st XV. Should've played this year to gain some experience IMO

There is only one Year 11 halfback that played First XV this year. That boy goes to Padua his name I think is Chris Morris I've watched some of his club games and his ball running as well as passing is exceptional I think he is a major contender for the no. 9 jersey. Why wasnt caleb Williamson suggested he is a great player much better than Lancashire. Has AIC one ever had a year 10 ( for next year) in the side it would be astonishing if Tom could do that with his size

I would think that Jordan Bayne from SLC is going to be up there for AIC selection next year on the wing

Been hearing talk of Ashgrove getting a prop from the Tiwi islands up near Darwin. Has apparently been killing it in the gym, reportedly benching 140kg and squatting up to the 200kg mark. inside reports from 2 XV coaches has his rucking ability right up there with the likes of brad wilkin and junior lolo. Also his fitness is a great strength and ability to use his size in attack and defense.

Forward Predictions/ Rank.

Iona - with the like of Dom Dingwill the Wynum boys will have a very strong pac with a great rucking game. Line outs for Iona go alright with their main jumper being there ONLY good one.

SPLC- the boys have a respectable pack with only a couple decent players. Peters will really in the scrum and lineout next year.

Marist - Daniel Byrnes leading the way for the boys in blue and gold he will be there main go to player with his lineout abilities and rucking. There pack is a very strong on with a respectable scrum.

Villanova- the villa boys would be the most experience boys in the XV jersey with several backing up from 2013. A couple of strong boys and consistent scrum the boys will sure be the under dogs of the AIC but will have a great pack.

Pats- not many big boys apart of Trembath. But with him getting consistent black eyes he would be there only decent player in the forward pack. Pats looking to have some respect in their pack.

Padua- Connor gentile leading the pack with his crunching hits and rucking skills . The boys from Kedron will have a very strong pack a good lineout a scrum. With maths backing up for the Padua XV last year the boys will have a lot of experience behind them. Their scrum being right up there. The Padua boys to have a very good year next year.

Eddies- with the likes of kain humphries and caleb Williamson eddies will have one of the better packs. The ippy boys will have a average lineout and a good scrum in the AIC next year but doubts of there hooker if he will be able to throw or be able to hook.

Lauries- will have an average pack with their strength being their scrum. And nothing else the boys lack enthusiasm and really lacks good props.

Best packs.

Padua.
Eddie.
Iona.
Marist.
Villa.
Lauries
Peters

I'm not quite sure I agree with the strong Padua pack as they seem to have lacked size this year and they had a young side.

Marist definitely a pack that will bring a lot of aggression to their games and will be consistent in the breakdown, not sure about their scrum?

Eddies definitely a pack that should be feared with the likes of Kain Humphreys, Caleb Williamson and even the youngsters, Riley Harris and Archie Taylor (schoolboy material).

In watching a few padua games, most of they're 15s forwards were in fact bigger than the firsts forwards and with them winning a premiership, you would expect most of them to progress to 1st XV

I hate to be a thorn in the side of Paduas hopes but I will remind you that Padua has never beaten Marist in the first 15 rugby competition. I think the Padua team has potential for best of the rest status at a stretch. With the 15 As coming off a premiership I think the best is still yet to come for Padua in 2015. I hope I'm wrong and we see a change in the usual Iona/Marist dominance. I still think Villanova are an underrated favourite.
