but still eddies game away with the win. Maybe a reality check they need to get out of second gear perhaps ? Don't expect another game that close for the rest of the season.

I think what the game showed was that if you want to beat eddies this year you should be praying for rain! I know that the referee shouldn't be criticised and how hard the job that they do is, having blew a few whistles myself back in the day! But unfortunately for eddies I believe that they got the wrong end of the stick on the weekend.

Have any of you been watching the second or third divisions in opens? A few standout player I believe especially from the schools who are leading the first division!

Lastly the Eddies forward pack should be ashamed! They had a good 50-60kgs (if not more) on the Grammar pack and yet still couldn't come close to bullying them at set piece. Kudos to the Grammar boys who showed size doesn't matter.

If I am deceived did St Edmunds not turn over numerous ball in those horrendous conditions at scrum time? Grammar were very good in the lineout but could not compete at scrum time.

Watched the ACT schoolboys play against Victoria before the Brumbies last night. The team lost 25-19, but the scoreline suggests the game was tighter then it was as ACT scored at the end of the game to get to 19 points. It was pretty poor result really, as ACT should be beating Vic. The one major area where the team is lacking strength is in the five-eighth position. What the team really lacks is a good distributer and kicker. They had Jordan Hope playing there for a period throughout the match and he looked to be the strongest however, they seem to like him the centres more which is odd. Tom Mitchell had a run in five-eight but is not up to the job. Mitchell Douch is a classy player, and Paddy Rumble should take up the reserve position for half-back. The two provided good clean ball. Brendan Trudgen threw some shocking passes which will probably lead to him being cut. It was probably good for the team to have a run together and hopefully they can turn that result around at the championships.

Has there been any more word on the situation from the uni vs dara game? They seem to be unaffected judging by the score they put up against ADFA was the earlier post a wild exaggeration of actual events?

They got 5-6 players suspended (9, 13, 5, 7, 8) but were unaffected due to great depth and some players coming back from injury. Not to mention a great overall performance from the team. The ADFA game got called off as 40 minutes due to 4 ADFA players getting injured and them having no reserves, so if the game continued we could have seen 70-80 points. The boys were definitely fired up before the ADFA game and left nothing on the field. Their discipline was on point only conceding a few penalties, there was no backchat what so ever to the referee which was also good to see.

Ive been told by a friend who attended the Uni Norths vs Wests game that once again Uni's discipline was disgusting and brought the game into disrepute. Can anyone elaborate on these comments?

I've also been told this. All I've heard so far is that there was 3 red cards for Uni-Norths. What that ultimately suggests is that they once again turned a game of rugby into thuggery. It hasn't just been the two games that have got the headlines where the team has acted inappropriately, this team has behaved poorly throughout the whole year, and I think it's time to kick them out of the competition. Also the big news of the week is that Daramalan beat Marist 23-5 on the weekend. Marist were only missing Suita so the team really did get out enthused and classed. Good to see the competition tightening up. Marist, Daramalan and Grammar now sit equal on points in 2nd spot. I think Daramalan will finish 3rd, but they are definitely the dark hourse.

Was anyone actually at the game, or are people just getting reports from a secondary source. I would like to know what actually happened at that game.

On another note does anyone know what the changes to the draw (if any) are occurring. Speculation have arisen that 2 teams will drop out of div 1 into the div 2 competition. Does anyone know anything more to this?

Have yet to hear from someone actually at the game I must admit. However, there has obviously been some discipline issues as I've heard now from 3 sources of multiple red cards. If you have watched Uni-Norths play this year, you'd agree that the team is a mess. Each week they have new un-registered players, they swear, complain and fight. At the end of the day a harsh stance needs to be taken.

On the other note, yes that speculation is in fact true. The bottom 2 teams from division 1 will drop down to division 2 (ADFA and Vikings). This is to ensure a strong Division 1 competition. Unfortunately this week however, the ACT schoolboy representatives will not play for their clubs as they have the national championships. Not only is this bad planning, but because the ACTJRU did not put out the draw for a round 8 match to be scheduled this weekend a number of players may also be unavailable because they may be away. The round should be re-scheduled.

I think that if this run of disciplinary issues has continued for Uni-Norths then drastic action must be taken. If what you are really saying is true and they have been playing unregistered players, which would not surprise me at all, then this issue is worse then it seems. I think with all the issues and poor discipline exhibited by the Norths team then they must be removed for the competition. They have from what I have seen and heard from other onlookers brought the game into disrepute every time they step on the field.

It seems a shame that so many players are unavailable for this weekends matches with teams such as Eddies having their depth really tested. Could be a good week to see the depth that these rugby powerhouses really have and to have a good look and upcoming prospects that get a run from lower grades and U16s.

Guys, you're treading on shaky ground here. Please be careful with your comments if you're not even dealing with second hand information. Thanks.

Sounds like another great win for St Edmunds and their depth is the reason why they are the rugby powerhouse of Canberra.

Are there any real contenders for the australian schoolboys team this year?

Can someone post updates on the tournament please.

Guessing this weekend will be the 1st weekend back for the ACT juniors after the school holidays!

Another game, another fight from Uni-Norths.. The game between Norths and Grammar was called off on the weekend. I witnessed their antics against Daramalan, I heard of the fighting once more against Wests and then this week they did it once more. I suggested that they should be kicked out of the competition after the last incident. After another game being called off this weekend, is it time for Uni-Norths to be kicked out of the competition? It's becoming a joke. ACTJRU need to act on these incidents with a harsh stance.
