hmm 13 st eddies players picked in the starting side and they only beat grammar 10-8 today.. not sure whats going through the selectors minds with that decision.

On a related note, i managed to get out to that game at grammar today and i was very impressed with what i saw from the boys. Notable players included number 12 from grammar not sure what his name is, 9 from grammar pat rumble is it? Seeing a lot of potential in that young lad. I thought beau played well but the eddies backline definitely didnt click today, i thought most of it fell down around the 10 - definitely missing the presence of naude.

Anyone manage to get out to other games? Keen to hear the details

I missed the grammar vs eddies game. Sounded like a cracker of a game. Did grammar play their hearts out? or did eddies just not show up? because if the scoreline reflects how the game was played i wouldnt be counting grammar out of finals contention, with, by the sounds of it, a good hard effort. Are there anymore details from the game?

he did, had a quick chat to some eddies parents who seem to believe its looking like a stage 3 anterior cruciate ligament tear with minor damage to surrounding soft tissues. doesnt look good whatever the case may be

Stage 3 ACL tear? He wouldn't of walked off the field by himself. get it together mate...

The No. 12 is Harrison Jenkins (VC) who is actually our first pick No.8 with Angus Whittle (who was in the premiership winning side) out with a shoulder problem and should be returning for round 6. Also I wouldn't say the Eddies backline didn't fire, I would just say that the Grammar side stepped up to Eddies surprise, and where not ready for the challenge they put to them. Lastly the Eddies forward pack should be ashamed! They had a good 50-60kgs (if not more) on the Grammar pack and yet still couldn't come close to bullying them at set piece. Kudos to the Grammar boys who showed size doesn't matter.

tight like a tiger who are you? This is not a forum for children, but rather for the discussion of highly important matters such as recent results in the highly competitive ACTJRU competition each weekend by grown men. OP would be disappoint.

I couldn't agree more with your comments on the eddies forward pack. A lot of talk about Tyrel Lomax and Folau Fafita, however I believe all of this talk is just from the pre-conceived idea that they are good because of their size. I've watched eddies a few times this year, and to have two props hitting the scales at roughly 110kg they should really be dominating the scrums but they're not at all. All the hard work is being done by their back row, and for some to suggest Tyrel could make Aus Schoolboys is a mistake. The most important asset to have as a prop is to be a great scrummager.

The game was a scrappy one at that with lots of handling errors. The set piece was sloppy from both teams but saying that eddies still dominated grammar at scrum time on what can be said to be a poorly prepared field. Once again grammar was piggy backed up the field by the referee with grammar being awarded penalty as eddies went on the attack. Grammar showed alot of heart but I dont think they will pose a threat in this competition once eddies start finding their groove. A strong performance also by the St Edmunds 2nd 15 with eddies looking likely to win all three open divisions.

I didn't catch the game but from the sounds of it Grammar put up a wonderful performance, usually if a team is piggy backed up the field it is because the other team is ill disciplined. With the bigger forwards such as Lomax and the other prop it isn't hard to believe that a lack of fitness would lead to poor discipline, as I've seen in the other Eddies games I've watched this season.

From what I've heard the refereeing has been high quality this season in most cases so lets not bring the forum down to the level of discussing calls you may believe are poor, and instead focus on the rugby being played.

the games have been good quality and the refereeing standard is also very high with certain games being controlled by premier 1st grade games.

I must agree with this, up to this point from what I have witnessed the quality of refereeing has been at the highest level in years and I must commend them for this. I just hope they keep this high standard up.

what annoys me is the lack of credit given where credit due. this is a forum dedicated to honest, unbiased comments on the schoolboy rugby competition in canberra and we have people blaming the grounds and referees for a result favouring the underdogs of the day.
