The only difference being that Stormers fans are even more annyoing than Reds and Tahs fans put together.

Sit on a mountain and smoke horny goat weed all day and your mind goes funny.
Hope you dont count me in your generalisation. The Brutes lot sure is the most humble you'd get.

Watching Cheetahs v Lions, just saw Ashley Johnson do what I'd call an "Aerial plank" with some assistance from some lions players.....

Another interesting thing I just saw during the game was the Lions going in for a try in the corner, went up for the TMO who said you could see that the foot & grounding of the ball for the try from the Lions player was quote "simultaneous". Mark Lawrence was watching the replay on the big screen & you could hear him say over the mic (& the commentators repeated it) "If its simultaneous its no try". I'd like to know if there is a link to the TMO rules to see whether simultaneous = no try is correct.

congrats to the Bulls who probably deserved the win, they've been the better team for mins 30-70, but that assistant referee needs to know his rugby 101. Obstruction when you're behind the ball carrier? How are you supposed to play the game then?

Gee the Stormers look the goods at the moment, amazing brutal 80 minute defence.

Only a less tolerant ref (of their propensity to give away penalties) will get in their way at the moment

Yeah, I wrote up about this in the NZ conference thread. Happy to see the Saders execute a lot better though & they looked quite fatigued so it was a pretty good effort.

Stormers are going great guns that is for sure.

Kiwi to coach Southern Kings
2012-04-13 07:41

Cape Town - New Zealander Matt Sexton will coach the Southern Kings in their debut season in Super Rugby next year.

According to the Metro newspaper's website, Sexton will be taking up the position of Head Coach for both the Super Rugby and Currie Cup divisions of the Kings as of July this year.

He will take over the reins from current EP Kings Head Coach, Alan Solomons, who will become the Kings' Director of Rugby.

EP Kings spokesperson, Sakhi Gqeba, confirmed that Sexton signed a two year contract, which relieves former Springbok prop Robbie Kempson of his dual coaching role, allowing Kempson to concentrate on the EP Academy.

Sexton, 41, will be joined by another Kiwi, Brad Mooar, who will take up the position of Specialist Skills Coach. Mooar is currently the head coach of the Canterbury U19's.

Former Border wing David Maidza will be Sexton's assistant, with former Springbok centre De Wet Barry remaining in his position as defence specialist.

Sexton played 128 games for Canterbury. He also played in Europe with leading Irish province Ulster, where he was coached by Solomons.

He is currently the Rugby Academy Manager of the Tasman provincial team in New Zealand.

Solomons said the union is happy with its decision.

“Matt is head and shoulders the right guy for Eastern Province rugby. He is a good man and has the capability to land up coaching New Zealand.

“I personally vouch for Matt Sexton as he possesses the exact character traits that we are looking for in EP Rugby - Integrity, Altruism and Professionalism," Solomons told MyPE.co.za - a community news website in Port Elizabeth.

Interesting. Plumtree, Mitchell, and now Sexton. Will they all be in super rugby?

What are the thoughts as to who'll be in the comp next year?

Yeah it is interesting, the Kings obviously feel they are guaranteed a place if they are appointing their coaches. I don't think the other unions will go down without a fight though. At this stage the other 5 unions say they are all sticking together but time will tell if that remains the case once they realise that South Africa will not be granted a 6th team in Super Rugby for the 2013 season.

An almighty court battle looms and it looks like the Lions will be front and centre they way their season is going.

Cheetahs look like a side that will get better if they keep their players fit. The Lions on the other hand are shite.

Lions in trouble, the Cheetahs sure have turned their season around and they will chase the Sharks all the way. Stormers on tour and will drop a game or two, Brutes still have to tour and the SA Conferense will turn into a 4 horse race. Lions have to do their hard part and I cant see them break back from this. Myself dont like this Kings pushing one bit but there is two positives coming from this.
1. It pushed all our franchises to new levels and it show in the results. Its the only thing they can control themself.
2. Easy 5 points head start for the remaining 4 SA teams for years to come.

This is a North South race at the moment. Stormers in their last tour match and the Brutes going on tour. Brutes will play Rebels, Waratahs, Highlanders and Chiefs.
Sharks/Cheetahs have a nice home run to catch up and two wins behind the Stormers / Brutes. They can still catch up easily but one futher slip at home and they will be buried, specially when they play this two teams at home.
Lions, dead and buried.

Can anyone tell me what Morne Steyn brings to the Boks table that Peter Grant does not?

He kick much better then Grant. Myself would like to see Goosen get a chance. At the moment he kick better then Morne and he is better then everyone with ball carrying and distribution duties. He is the perfect 10 still very young but he sure have the talent to become big.

Really? Sure he is probably still a better goal-kicker than Grant, but gee not by much. His distribution and running game are no greater than sound or a pass-mark for an international 10. He is also a weak defender.

PG is a strong defender. Good in contact. Atleast the equal of Morne in terms of distribution. Very good place kicker.

I feel a little silly as I can't think off the top of my head what his kicking from hand is like.

Morne can punt it further. Look I like Grant aswell. Altho he is high on the miss tackle stats this year he is also a good 12 midfielder and solid defender. He is actually a very good bench option. The Bokke have Lambie and Frans Steyn who can do a simliar job. We struggled for years with our 10s and all of sudden there are some real young talent coming through like the above mentioned plus Taute and Jantjies from the Lions. I watched Johan Goosen since his schooldays and he sure look at the moment our best form 10. If he dont play this year in the jersey , I hope Meyer will include him rather sooner then later in the Bok setup.

Johan Goosen is a rugby freak. You dont get them often but to play on the S15 level so good , there have to be something between that young Tin Ears of him.
