I think Robinson needs a clear off season with no rehab

I hope you're right. An inform Robinson will be invaluable next year. I'm hoping he gets rested from the EOYT and Deans can blood guys like Palmer and Ryan.

I thought we used our props pretty well on Saturday.

Robbo 40 minutes, Slipper just under 50, Alexander just over 70.

I'm not sure selecting McCabe and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is really any better than McCabe and Horne -- as a combination. I think they are too similar. Defensively they'll be fine, but in attack I'm not so sure.

Berrick at 15 could work, but really all this shifting around in the backs is not great. I've gone on record as saying BB's best position is 12, but unfortunately his last couple of of games haven't really backed that up.

KB (Kurtley Beale) being dropped to the bench is the right call I think. He's not at the required standard to start right now.

He's fullback, who cares what his defence is like. Thats why anyone plays fullback.
He has the biggest kick in AUS maybe behind Nic White. He's big and I disagree with fat prop about him being weak in contact in attack. You say it as if it is fact, can you support this claim?

I never said its a fact, it's an opinion based on observations... And selectors obviously care about his defence, we already have one half-assed tackler in Quade... We can't carry another one in the team

I don't understand why we keep picking players out of position. If Barnes is not regarded as the best option at 12, then either put him on the bench or drop him. We have Morahan who played well for the Reds all season at 15, he should have got the call up, if Beale has been deemed not up to starting. I would even start Harris at 15 before Barnes.
As for A. Fainga, shouldn't be there, there are better options as back up for 12/13, like Ben Tapuai. Also, not in agreeance with McCabe at 12, if Barnes isn't our best 12, which he isn't at the moment, then Harris is the next in line. He was excellent for the Reds at 12 and he has no problem taking on the line and creating space and distributing the ball to his outside. I think O'Connor should be groomed as the Wallabies 15, with Beale being relegated to the bench.
I have no problem with the forward pack, it seems about right with the players available and fronted up last week. The big question is, can they front up two weeks in a row. I think Timani's hard running will be missed this week (Nearly a converted Timani supporter).
If the Wallabies forwards front up, We should win by 10-15, I think the All Blacks will have taken a little sting out of the Pumas. If our forwards revert to normal, we could lose by 5-10. Our forwards need to front up so our backs can control the game.

Barnes is only there for goal kicking and correctly so. When we have someone kicking at higher than 90% they're too valuable to drop. How often do we complain how poor our kickers are? About how we always leave so many points on the park. We're winning tests off the back of his kicking.

Also a good goal kicker doesn't just kick points but puts the opposition on edge when inside their half not to infringe.

Agree with that Lee. We MUST win the battle in the pigs. The Argies cannot be allowed to run over us and gain any momentum. They aren't the kind of team that will score a lot of points quickly, but they will grind and wear their opposition down. Those are the kinds of teams that we traditionally have difficulty with (e.g. England). We've got to lay down that marker early and keep knocking them backwards in the collision. A confrontational team will get frustrated and start giving away penalties if you absorb the early pressure and then give it back. For that reason I like the selection of Kane Douglas. I think he'll relish a chance to smash into some blokes.

We need to keep the ball down their end and give them a few opportunities as possible to kick for goal. Set pieces will be crucial in that endeavour, especially in our half.

I think Harris offers more in attack and is a better kicker, and takes better options under pressure. Barnes is probably a slightly better defender.

Anyone know how ticket sales are tracking?

I must say I'm disappointed we haven't seen a single or half a dozen Argentinian girls on the beach at Surfers in Blue & White bikinis. Throw in a few metermaids in their gold and Bobs your uncle. Perfect promo for the coast!

C'Mon JON! For the good of the code, promote the match a bit!

JOC (James O'Connor) hasn't played in ages and should come off the bench if he comes straight back.
look what happened with beale straight back to the XV.

+1. It seems likely that JOC (James O'Connor) will struggle for form in the same way as Cooper and Beale.

Love the selection of Douglas. Perfect for this game. A hard nosed no nonsense tight playing lock. Inspired choice by RD, perfect choice for this opposition.

I don't think McCabe and Ashley-Cooper are that similar tbh; AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) doesn't seek contact the same way McCabe does. McCabe runs hard into spaces or at players (less so the latter, which is good progress) while AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) uses his fend and step more.

Saia Fainga'a's continued selection does worry me. I like his style, but I really think he lacks the physical ability to make it work. Time is running out for him to improve on his ability to change his game to allow him to force his style.

Sad to see Timani miss out through injury(?) as I thought he was developing nicely: he was on a bit of a roll. I can understand people's preference of Simmons over Kane Douglas, but I think Douglas has earned a go and could be a force. He'll definitely benefit from some Test experience. With Sharpe retiring at the end of the tournament/year, it's a good opportunity to blood Douglas and will mean that three key candidates for the 2013 Wallabies second row (Simmons, Timani, Douglas) will all have had a run at the Test level.

Phipps will go well if he plays fast, which we know he can. The Pumas like to play a million miles an hour, so it's good to have someone who should at least physically match them. We'll miss Genia's experienced head, though. (If only we could keep him in a jar Futurama style and send Phipps out with him.)

McCabe and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) are very similar in the way that they both don't do much in the way of passing.

I fail to see how McCabe gets to go straight back into the starting lineup when returning from injury, but Taps still doesn't get a shot. I suspect there is only one person on this forum that believes that McCabe is a better player than Tapuai.

I like McCabe, but his selection is a step backwards in my opinion. We have a hard running, hard tackling player that has been picked ahead of a hard running, hard tackling, good passing and left foot kicking player. Doesn't make much sense at all to me.

Don't forget the unseen; Taps may not be 100% fit, might not fit into what Deans wants in the backline or might not be training as hard/well as others.

I agree he deserves a shot from the outside perspective.
