Good on Alain Rolland for sticking to his guns and refusing to allow a player who had been assessed as medically unfit to play to continue to play.

Disappointed me that our Mob ran the bench the way it was that allowed the situation to arise in the first instance, but kudos to Rolland. There should be no competition rules situations that our team management should be surprised about. That was poor game preparation by the support staff.

Recent events are not painting Mr Egerton in a good light.

I think the main difference between our injury toll and the other nations comes down to fitness. Our guys just are fit enough compared to the opposition, and not being fit enough leads to injuries.
This lack of comparitive fitness stems from S15 and a national approach to strength and conditioning for all S15 franchises is the way forward. The qualifier, is that it should be a joint effort designed in consultation with all S15 franchises and the Wallabies.

Well if you use the dictionary definition:
The condition of being suitable or appropriate.

Fitness is not just measured in strength and VO2 max. It's technique, practice, execution and working as a team under pressure.

There's nothing wrong in theory with the current system - just whoever is running the show isn't "fit".

As I promised: I admit Beale was OK/good. A few options that were just ridiculous the low trajectory kick straight after half time which was charged down.
Why can we not execute these simple things?
Roland is playing 1962 break down laws.

Problem is, the 4th official approved his replacement before he came off. If that hadn't happened, he probably would have gone down and been treated on field in the hope he could stay out there, meaning the mess wouldn't have happened.

Was thinking last night that a Pocock/Hooper tandem could be an option to look at. Obviously that means Palu can't play 8. If Higgers can find his form again he is the ideal jumping backrower.

Time for a Pocock vs Hooper thread?

Hooper has grown an extra limb since making his debut, because at Super Rugby level he was only just above Gill and well below Pocock. Fair to say he is close to overtaking Pocock now.

You want us to get even smaller?

With timani out aswell we had no loose forwards left only paddy and hanson. Probly a good thing harris was there as back cover all we would have been more stuffed

Harris looked OK but then he got half in the clear round their #2 and had a brain explosion: as Kafe said he should have just pinned his ears back.
Very strange - most debutant/inexperienced players hog the ball and go to far.
Samo is past it at one point his sole contribution was to (a) hand the ball to Phipps (b) lean with one hand on the ruck/maul.

Thats a good point - but I just cannot believe that Egerton did not know the law: he even tried to bully the medic into backing down on TPN fitness to continue.

Team Wob Support staff should have sufficient experience that they can manage the gameday managers the same way Sir Richie GOAT manages Referees.

There should be no surprises on game day. There was. They failed.

TPN was a mess and if he continued, we would have effectively been playing 14 aside anyway. His kamikaze style, which generally means he can not complete 80 minutes, again let the team down. With a bench rapidly emptying due to injuries, you don't want players to play high injury risk footy.

Why is Fat Cat being benched so early? It seems to be predetermined and takes place irrespective of the position of the game.
I guess that means that no one has to make a judgment call about whether to leave him on or not and on the evidence so far our short suit is sound judgment calls...oh and bench planning.

Poor old Robbie. Last year he might as well have not had #16-22 stripped and ready to play, cause they were not wanted.

This year, the bench is overused, and the management of the bench is still questioned.

Where is Goldilocks when we need her? Not too hard/hot, not too soft/cold, just right.

Springbokke played exactly like I thought they will play. Forwards again dominated but this time with Goosen and Jean back in his best position joined the party. Etsebet, Flo and Duanne was massive. Now we need to stop the All Blacks this weekend. If we keep the same form we will do just that.

Wallabies, dunno, not a single one showed up and the record has been set straight.

Injuries? What injuries, blame it on Oneil wanting the S15 marathon. You need a CC or NPC to make matters worse in this department.

Shipperly had one of those moments.

This one was a good old properse hiding, the 5 tries against the Wallabies was lekker sweet. Made up for all the matches we should have won but lost against the Wallabies in recent times. Could have been much more ugly , maybe next time.

Paarl, We were kak. Your mob weren't. Simple. Watch out for the tide of Darkness sweeping in over the Atlantic. Like the Bokke, the Darkness also found mojo last night.

Should be a damn fine game. Like two bison bulls having a go at each other in the mating season.

You really want our players not to commit to playing with the effort they normally do to minimize injury?

I'm not saying the wobs management shouldn't have known they couldn't replace TPN. I'm saying if the 4th official didn't approve it the shame of the players being confused and the game being held up would have been avoided and we would have just gone to uncontested without the embarrassment.

I am saying that I am not a fan of TPN Kamikaze football.

I believe in the long term it will actually harm him. How many times has he been concussed now?

I want the players to learn to tackle in a safe manner to minimise injury to both themselves and their opponents.

When there is no one on the bench to replace him for the inevitable injury, then he really needs to act in the best interests of the team and avoid a situation where we get to a 14 man team playing uncontested scrums. Avoiding kamikaze acts on his behalf is part of this.
