I hope you guys will be a bit restrained in your criticism of Deans and the rest of the team after this performance. The number of injuries that the Wallabies have faced is ridiculous. I thought they did pretty well all things considered. SA could have put 50 on.

SA bonus point highlights the point that the AB's need to win this morning to ensure the TRC.

Time for the Deans Wallabies era to end. I know we have a lot of injured players but we are going nowhere. Time for some fresh ideas. That effort was crap.

In his defence, the injuries have been horrific, but he was due to go before that happened so no argument from me.

But I would imagine JON will be too busy over at echo to worry about a tiddling little issue such as finding a new Wallabies coach for the next few months.

Agree deans should go at the end of the championship, don't agree the effort was crap. Boys put there bodies on the line tonight, we were never in the game but try saving tackles involving running down players over 40 meters don't come from lack of effort.

Kurtley deserves to be wallaby fly half from here on for mine, not a complete game tonight, had little ball to play with, but his skill level is outrageous and when he did get quick ball he always looked like something was gonna happen. We need to just back him hell or high water and I feel he will reward us.

Hope AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Digby, Samo and everyone else with a injury is alright. Very tough night at the office.

That said, was well played by the springboks, they were brutal in contact and deserved the win.

Makes me wonder though. If we are short on the ground for the Argies & lose (real possibility now), & finish 4th, will this be enough to dislodge RD? Or will Quadegate & now the injury toll prevent that from happening?

I am reluctant to lay blame on RD for this game due to the injuries however. I can't fault the effort either of the team.

Can anyone point me to that seven replacement rule - can see the rule that limits you to nominting seven replacements, and the limitations on returning players - but nothing that says that the nominated replacements cannot come onto the field.

Law 4: http://www.irblaws.com/downloads/EN/IRB_Laws_2012_EN.pdf

Law 3.4

A team can substitute up to two front row players (subject to Law 3.14 when it may be
three) and up to five other players. Substitutions may only be made when the ball is dead
and with the permission of the referee.

I think quadegate might save him. If RD wasn't on the nose before the championship I think the injury toll would have saved him, unfortunately I don't think it has made that much of a difference.

Hooper a shining light in a team beaten up all over The Veldt. Will need plenty to go our way (& some more fresh troops) to be any show in Rosario.

Indeed. I think if we finish 4th that will definitely be the straw that breaks the camels back for mine.

Its a very interesting question. (I think you mean law 3 just quietly).

I think the law in question is ambiguous and can be read to support Rolland's interpretation

3.4 PLAYERS NOMINATED AS SUBSTITUTES
For international matches a Union may nominate up to seven replacements/substitutes.
For other matches, the Union with jurisdiction over the match decides how many
replacements/substitutes may be nominated to a maximum of seven (subject to Law 3.14
when it may be eight).
A team can substitute up to two front row players (subject to Law 3.14 when it may be
three) and up to five other players. Substitutions may only be made when the ball is dead
and with the permission of the referee.

I think the most comfortable reading of it is that a team may make 7 substitutions (ie 2 + 5) rather than a team may have 7 substitutes.

But I dunno, I see that it has already been brought up on the refs forum and I will be interested to see what they have to say.

I'm starting to worry about our IRB ranking and whether we can keep in the top 4 seeds for the World Cup
