It was Meh, it wasn't as crap as people want to make out, just Meh.
Yeah the all blacks bombed a couple but so did the wallabies. So 8 in the end is probably a fair reflection. Both teams interrupted the others midfields, dagg was the real difference, Beale failed to inject himself in any memorable way.

The NZ centers were no better than there counterparts for mine.

Agreed we lost it in the breakdown at contact, compared to the world cup semi though we were lightsyears better, probably on passion alone as our technique is still far behind the kiwis.

The kiwis pack are far better than ours at isolating players. Pocock was taken out of the game, every ruck he seemed to be put on his back and taken out of the next play. Something the wallabies lacked.

That said, I don't really think anyone in the wallabies team played badly enough to say thy were useless. Beale had a very off night by his standards, but that's the exception of the last couple of years so no point changing. For mine any changes have to be made to make the team stronger, lots of agenda based suggestions here like usual, but do we really have people that are gonna change the problem areas, not just changes for change sake.

Higgers looks like he should be a good test 8, but he isn't. He is quicker and slightly bigger than Read, yet not once did I see him charging off the back of a scrum and crossing the gainline. Read charged all night. Perhaps its an attitudinal difference.

So.lessons.

Catch the fucking ball.

Pass the ball onto the hands of the running player, not a meter behind him.

Catch the fucking ball. It's your job, dickhead.

Tackle the guy with the ball. I mean, just fucking TACKLE him. Like they taught you in juniors.

Have a plan in attack. Any plan would be good. Just get one.

Errors. You don't have an allocation. It's not ok to make them. You're the fucking Wallabies. You're meant to be the cream of the crop. Act like it.

Be fit. It's kind of a requirement for achievement In international Rugby.

Play your best players. Cooper in a suit in the crowd with Swisse Bieber? FFS.

Use your fucking bench. Especially when none of your forwards are fit. See above.

Intensity is about two things. Fast and Hard.

If you're going to get a tattoo You show ponies, get FAST on the back of 4 fingers and HARD on the other 4, then live it. It's like a Prison Tatt, earn it you fucking marshmallows.

Karl, I have to say I had trouble reading this because of the tears in my eyes! Laughed at your matter-of-fact 'lessons', great post mate!!
Suggest ARU get laminated copies and place in each player's allocated space in the shed, to be taken to each stadium until most of your comments 'sink in'!

Slim, you are way out of line on that one. At least 2 players beat there opposite. This list is more accurate;)

No the passion was there - KB (Kurtley Beale) was all over twitter before the game telling us how pumped he was for it. It was right after the pics of him and O'Connor at the hair salon.

o_O

Kurtley did a 'James Magnussen', (AKA a "Reverse-Bradbury")!

Then rationally discuss why they didn't play well and then rationally suggest with reason a player we have that can accomplish more without providing weakness in another area.

Nt just you slim and I'm not picking, a lot I people on this thread playing the man as such, if you want a change in personnel, I think you should also provide reasoning rather than player x would have done better.

I wholeheartedly disagreed with every single word of the rest of your post, but this part (and ONLY this part) above is completely "like" worthy and I believe critical for next weeks selections.

Does anyone see an issue with Genia's slow clearance from behind a ruck? He seems to wait forever, allowing the AB defensive line to regroup, have a quick cup of tea, and then stifle any attack?

Sometimes, but if you watch the replay again you will also see plenty of times where he was ready, looked up and saw that the forwards werent ready to take the ball. The slowness of our re-alignment was astoundingly poor!

Yeah. I'm watching it now. No runners ready / Barnes absent / Beale invisible.

Everyone is getting a bit carried away.

I thought Genia played pretty well. Ditto for Ioane and Sharpe. Your scrum went pretty well, Rolland was just playing turn and turn about with the penalties. Barnes went OK apart from a couple of brain farts early on. The breakdown was not pretty, but then it never is against the All Blacks.

Very few teams beat the All Blacks, even at home. I would wait until I saw the results against the other teams before I got too distraught.

Ps. There has been a strange lack of comment about the referee, who I thought was appalling. The best thing that can be said was that he was equally bad for both teams. He kept coming back for marginal and immaterial offences, particularly at the lineouts, and many of his ruck/tackle offences showed a lack of understanding for the game. It's a bit surporising because I generally think Rolland is a good ref, but he was well off his game last night.

Yep. It was way too slow, mainly because no-one was ready to receive the ball. The ABs always have someone hitting the ball up hard, with at least one on the hip. We almost never do this. Cooper directs traffic better in this way, insofar as when he wants the ball and what he wants people to do. But if the forwards are lolling around like Brown's cows, I'm not sure even he could get them organised.

Can't be arsed trawling through the previous 50 pages, but the one observation I will make is that we really missed Palu last night. I am a noted Palu fan, but his workrate at the breakdown and impact with ball in hand were noticeably absent.

That's where his connection with QC (Quade Cooper) comes in. Also having Barnes at 12 would offer an alternative first receiver. The line was not being organised.
I cannot believe that they were not fit enough to re-group. The pace of the game was not extraordinary.
Mind you the ABS applied a huge amount of pressure almost every time we were in possession. I am sure it was very rough going for our boys out there.
Let's face it though, this is not the first time our backs have operated behind a pack under the gun.
