I think it is 8 of the bench or 4 starting squad.
Same mght go for Lopeti Timani.
Swarely I think he might be more in the back-row, plus a rethink of the 2nd rowers. You need height in the international games, especially against SAand NZ.

Possible XV?

1. ?
2. Hugh Roach
3. ?
4. Steve Cummins
5. Lopeti Timani
6. Sean McMahon
7. Liam Gill
8. Curtis Browning
9. Nick Frisby
10. Ulupano Seuteni/Kyle Godwin
11. ?
12. Latunipulu
13. Faalavaau
14. Chris Sautia
15. ?

Will be interesting to see where Timani plays.

Seems like this team will have less super rugby players than normal.

How old is McMahon? I would like to see Cusack from ACT get a run, he looks like a real prospect.

It amazes me that Lopeti can play in this tournament, I didn't realise he was that young.

What's the size (in terms of weight) of Seuteni? Could be worthwhile using both he and Godwin as an alternating play maker role.

How does this tournament work? Lose 1 game and you are in line to end up any place from semi's to 5 place playoff. So teams with that smaller side like fiji in it was basically a guarantee for a semi?

How could I forget him after that kick!

I still think he will be too small for higher honors - however I think he will make a good long term 7's player. Our own Ben Gollings.

Possible XV?

5. Lopeti Timani

Lopeti was born in 1990; so is too old. I've seen a DOB listed for him that indicates that he was born in 1993 (even by the Tahs) but that is wrong. How to I know? I asked him.

The bulk of the U/20 team will come from the Oz U/19 team of last year adjusted for players who emerged, or showed improvement, since that time. It's a bit of a worry because the 2011 U/19 team was beaten by an England U/18 team at Weigall.

The Aussies were, on average, a year older, but physically and in a rugby nous sense they played a year younger than their Pom opponents, most of whom will struggle to make the 2012 England U/20 team.

1. McMahon - Turns 18 in June 2012
2. Agree about Cusack
3. As indicated above: Lopeti is 21 now.

[Seutini] was 17 last year

For most of it, but he turned 18 in December. He is therefore eligible to play U/20 in 2012 and 2013.

By the bye: I would be reluctant to choose any player who was at school last year in an U/20 team this year. I'd make an exception for outside backs and the odd rugby freak like a Beale or an O'Connor.

People may point out that many such players have been picked in past years and I guess that is my point. In particular I would not want to pick any 2011 school leavers in the tight five, whatever their merit.

I realise that a lack of depth forces the hand of selectors, but I would always tend to chose a fellow who has had two years in an academy ahead of a star school leaver, even though I know that the fellow I pick will have a smaller scrapbook at the end of his rugby days than the other bloke will.

That's all, generally speaking.

And that is why I do not understand why we leave selection so long. Harping on this - yeah, but you want a team to bloody perform on the international stage don't throw them together at the last minute!

Most Southerners won't have heard of Stolberg but he is a pretty big and tall unit who has played a bit of Prems in Brisbane. Reckon he would have to be a chance for a lock spot. I also think Beauchamp could be a chance giventhat he played Brisbane Prems last year and the Rebels thought he was good enough for a trial earlier this year. The more guys who've had experience at the adult level the better I reckon.

I also saw UJ Seuteni playing at 12 for Qld A against one of the PI sides two months ago. He looked good and might be worth consideration in that spot for this team.

Forcefield

Ken Catchpole (46)
I would be surprised if Ollie Hoskins and Gary Neugebauer from the Force academy weren't in strong consideration for 3 and 1. Both played for the Aus U19s against England. Hopefully both have improved since last year having spent another season around some of the props we've had in the senior side.

good to here Kyle Godwin's name being thrown around. Might not be long till we see him having more game time at the force. He is only 1 injured player away from it.

Stolberg is over 200cm, and as you say, big.
UJ looked good in the QLD A game I saw. Hope the injury isn't too bad.
