WOW that was some harsh comments, particularly about Bekker and Spies......but true though.

Mallett won't pick overseas Boks
2012-06-01 07:36
Cape Town - Former Springbok and Italy coach Nick Mallett says players plying their trade overseas should not be picked for the Boks.
He told Beeld those players aren't keen on the hard, physical game here in South Africa and are seeking and easy way out to make money.
He hinted at scrumhalf Fourie du Preez, who is a strong candidate to lead the Boks, when he spoke about the upcoming three-Test series against England.
"The guys that go play overseas, especially Japan, often see it as an easy pay-day and they know they won't suffer like they would had they played here in South Africa.
"The rugby there is much easier and calmer in comparison to the guys who play Super Rugby week in, week out.
"I feel really sorry for Heyneke (Meyer, Bok coach). To play against England a week after two derby matches (Bulls-Stormers, Lions-Sharks) is no joke," said Mallett.
The first Test against England starts in Durban next Saturday (June 9), followed by Tests in Johannesburg (June 16) and Port Elizabeth (June 23).
Meyer will name his final squad after the Bulls-Stormers game on Saturday evening.
Mallet has always been straight forward and he played a huge role in developing Heyneke as a coach, in fact he is one of Meyers rolemodels as a coach. I dont think he want any role in the team, he is doing commentary for SS these days.At least you're not playing Argentina on the Tuesday...
Why is Mallet coming out with these comments now? Does he want a role with the team or something?

That's the truth! That's also what got him fired.
The only reasoning I can find for the FdP pick as captain and as player is that he wants either Schalk Burger as captain or he wants to see the way JdV adabt to the 13 position before giving him the captaincy. Hougaard dont have a good kicking game and he probably wants the high kick and charge gameplan against the Poms.
We'll see. I did not watched any 6 nation tests and all these Pom players bar the Saffer chicken runners I know sweet nothing about. Going one eyed into these tests and hoping they wear their cross over on the jersey. Thats where the boere aimed in the Boer War.Marler will destroy Jannie.
Marler will destroy Jannie.
I am more worried about the lineouts. How is Calvinia's Botha?Jannie is our weak link but destroy? That's a bit dramatic.
Marler sure looks good but hasn't struck me as that good and I have seen him play numerous times this year.
Somehow for the last ten years every single year the Pom or Lions scrum is going to kill us and it doesn't happen.
Time and time again Sheridan, Vickery etc were going to kill Jannie and whoever else was at 3 and it hasn't really happened.
Look there is no way we'll dominate them but I think we'll be okay.
Not the most athletic. Normally jumps at the front. Hits the rucks hard and a good defender. Solid player.I am more worried about the lineouts. How is Calvinia's Botha?
