Schadenfreude

John Solomon (38)
I think the Wallabies could benefit from a new coach but to be fair to Deans our poor performances are not all his fault. We've lambasted Deans for his tactical and personal blunders at the WC and in NZ earlier this year, and rightfully so. I think most people would agree he's lucky to still have a job. But in the same vein we should also give him credit for a good (albeit unpolished) win over the Pumas in Roserio.

I'd find it refreshing to see a guy like Link take the reins but until that happens I'm ever hopeful that Deans will prove me wrong.

I'm amazed anyone is giving anyone any credit for the sloppy lucky win over lowly ranked Argentina.

There's a real lack of goal kicking in that 30. That means Harris has to be in the 22, perhaps even the 15. You can't leave points on the field against the All Blacks and expect to win. I doubt Deans will move McCabe, so I think 13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and 15. Harris is a necessary evil. That puts Taps back on the bench.

If Samo is out, we'd all better pray that Palu is ready!

Palu took about 5-6 games to come back in form before the RWC. He isn't the answer in this instance.

I'd be comfortable with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 13 and Mike Harris at 15.

That's why I said we'd better pray. Seriously though, what's the alternative? Higgers is so much better at 6 and his fit with Dennis has been poor.

All this talk coming from the Wallabies camp about the All Blacks looking unbeatable is really starting to piss me off.

If they're that good, why are we bothering to show up? We're sounding like a beaten side before kick off.

Can Robbie Deans get this side fired up to avoid getting hammered or is the main tactic this week to hope the ABs get complacent?

I thought the Aussie press conference today was great, respectful of the all blacks but with a lot of youthful talk of having a crack at them and looking forward to trying to pull off an upset. Both Beale an Phipps where really good. In the position the team is in and compared to NZ coming out and claiming there going to win is only going to be seen as unwarrented arrogance anyway. It actually left me looking forward to the game which a week ago I was dreading.

That said, the cooper saga needs to get worked out. Every Jurno keeps prodding hoping someone slips up and puts there foot in it and it overshadows the importance of the game itself. So far there are three articles about it on the Tele/SMH whilst none discuss the game as a sporting contest of its own.

The AB's aren't making any claims about winning, they are taking the game very seriously indeed I can assure you. Perhaps some hack journos are spouting that sort of rubbish. But who takes any notice of what they write anyway. At the end of the day it's a test match between the two top rated sides in world rugby, and there is not that much between any of the top sides. Yes we do have an edge at present, but I for one never take these contests as a given.
