    Waratahs 2025

I would be throwing the kitchen sink at Eben Eztebeth, he is thirty three now, sign him for two years. His tight five rugby IP would be the best in the game. He would give the Tahs more wins, which leads to more fans, bigger crowds, lucrative sponsorship and a global rugby profile for the Tahs.

    Australian Rugby / RA

If that is the option RA has decided is best, perhaps their plan B is to have a team from Victoria play in the Jack Scott cup. We could also have the Rebels participate in the Shute Shield. With first, second and third grade teams and a first grade colts team using Tarneit as their home ground.

    Wallabies 2024

I would swap out Edmed and put Lynagh in, put Nasser in Porecki’s place. Add Petaia and Pasitoa into the A team if fit and bring in Hoopert and Schoup and leave Amone and Hodgman out. Good players in FLW (Fergus Lee-Warner) and Will Harris missing out.
  4. Clubhouse coach

    Western Force 2025

I like Pasitoa as a 15, big boot, good hands, solid defender and a big body. Although I wouldn’t be disappointed if he ended up at 10 or 12. Here’s hoping he can get an injury free run

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

Has anyone heard where Sam Talakai, Cobous Eloff and Isaac Kailea are playing with next year?

    Australian Rugby / RA

Squad size variations and the possibility of an increased salary cap aside, agents and players will make their decisions on each franchise’s rugby program and their performance in 2024. The Brumbies and the Force could well be the winners in the player merry go round. Not so much the Reds as...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I am deeply disappointed that it has played out this way, informing the squad just before they were to jump on a plane to go and play the Drua appears inconceivable and amateurish at best. I would have thought the RA board would have had financial oversight with checks and balances in place when...

Australian Super Rugby Team of the Week 2024

I have been impressed with Jeremy Williams this year and can see him developing into a Wallaby long term six. Rodda and Swain would be my lock picks with Frost and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) as backups.

    Waratahs 2024

Good assessment Froggy, I would like to see Wilson starting at nine and the Tahs also missed Hanigan’s hard edge and maturity.

    Western Force 2024

Caught the replay of the trial yesterday, I liked Matt Faessler’s set piece play. I thought the Force’s defence in the first thirty minutes was solid, lead by Harris, Pearce and Stewart.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

    Eloff is a loose head?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Congratulations to the Rebels on their win over the Tahs, yes I do realise that it was only a trial. I believe they are well placed to have a top four finish in SRP (Super Rugby Pacific), why because they tick the same boxes as the successful teams at the RWC ticked. In the lead up to the RWC it was often reported...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

.Good points Hoggy, most of these are an easy fix. I would also through in the option of having an o/s marquee player and a wallaby eligible player exempt from the salary cap.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

At this stage I can’t offer any feasible options on how they do it, but RA need to lift their funding to the five Super Rugby clubs. Why the Waratahs are in such a financial mess when they are the only Super Rugby team in a town of five million people? Sydney should be a cash cow for RA. If the Tahs could get...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I expect that there is going to be extra discussion on alignment, now that McLennan and Jones can no longer have an influence on possible outcomes. With Schmidt , Horne and Nucifora having experience in similar systems and enjoying a higher level of trust and respect from the five Super Rugby...

    Waratahs 2024

Agree Hawko, not a lot between Ned and Fergus, it will come down to performances on the training paddock and in trials.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Interesting figures, although I am pretty sure that the Super Rugby cap was reduced during COVID and hasn’t gone back up to pre COVID amount. Sitting at just under four million currently. Last year the AFL distributed 272 million to its clubs, expansion clubs received 25 million each, Sydney...
