    Waratahs 2025

The blokes who are too fringe at 22-23 to be paid by the Tahs are the ones heading off to 2nd division French teams or the like. As BH says, it'd be great if we could pay all of them, but it's not going to happen.

    Waratahs 2024

The results weren't there, but you have to respect DC's approach to the whole thing. From his press conference this week, per the Roar: "I think it’s important to have a strong emotional connection to your job. "For me this is more than a job, it becomes all encompassing and sometimes...

    Waratahs 2025

DC has been that guy, the whinging from the Shute Shield gys has been reduced at least 5% whilst he's been coach. Gilmore doesn't need this shit sandwich at this point in his career, better for him to go overseas and learn more about club head coaching without the Sydney pressure. Unless he was...

    Waratahs 2025

I agree in theory, but in the bullshit realpolitik of Sydney rugby, someone with at least some connection to Shute Shield will get a smoother ride when the inevitable bumps in the road arrive.

    Refereeing decisions

Complex game, resetting the clock every few minutes.

    Waratahs 2025

The head coach is definitely not the biggest problem the Waratahs have. Yes, DC had to go after this season, but I hope this review and changes go much deeper than head coach and assistants.

    Refereeing decisions

I'd agree with stopping the clock for scrums in the last 10 minutes, but if done throughout the game, it would make a low-quality game, with too much dropped ball (e.g. most games at Allianz), last for about 3 hours. And if you stop the clock, it gives the forwards an excuse to stop for longer...

    Round 13: Brumbies v Crusaders Sat 18th 2.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

Stevie Wonder trying to drive an iron lung. Excellent.

I think Doorn is playing both sides, though. In that recent interview, he wanted to emphasise that he hasn’t “given the keys” to RA, but then he’s happy to shrug his shoulders and point at RA when he can’t contact players. Though, most of the CEOs do the same.

    Super Rugby General Chat

And we probably thought Super Rugby and URC were pretty close when Munster (in-season) just got over the pre-season Crusaders this year...but that was the 2024 Crusaders.

Round 13: Force v Waratahs Saturday 5:35pm Perth time

I dunno, Ponini and Fonokalafi have done their jobs reasonably well, and beyond the front row, the remainder of the starting XV are close to first-choice. No excuses for a poor performance really.

Can we park the "shrink to greatness" thing? I haven't heard anyone seriously suggest that since the Force were cut. This is "shrink to survive", and I'm OK with pro rugby in Australia surviving.

    Waratahs 2024

Dunno. I feel disappointed that we've invested two years' worth of recovery time into him, and the moment he's back on the field, he's off to greener pastures. But I can also imagine he's probably sick of the sight of the training facility, given all those physio sessions.

    Round 12: Waratahs v Brumbies Sat 11th 7.35PM @ ALLIANZ STADIUM

That starting Tahs team could go OK, as long as the back row can figure where they're supposed to be. But they'd better rack up a 15 point lead before the reserves come on, there's a gulf in class there, compared to the Ponies' finishers.

This seems...sensible? Co-ordination between Super Rugby teams? Not sure how to process.

    Waratahs 2025

There's enough talent in this squad to go further than 5-8 on the table, and if anyone can get people playing to their potential, it's Cheika. But could he play nicely with the new bosses at RA?

    Waratahs 2024

How many MORE frontrowers should they have contracted before the start of the season? Contracting is not the problem for the front row this year - S&C might be.

    Australian Rugby / RA

And I think Sualii and Jorgensen's salaries are being topped up by an external donor group? Maybe also Angus Bell's? Nice to have the money, but the recruiting policy of that group might not always be aligned with RA.
