WTF was that at the back of the scrum?

Ok, fair enough. There would still be a work around though, or just deal with like the rest of the world is starting to do. Even our lot are starting to think that way based on the dissent in the NSW government today by the sounds of it.

I think the line drop out law is being trialled. Amazingly the red card replacement one didn't make the cut, I thought the poms would have been all over that one (think Farrell).

    Lions in South Africa 2021

I have to admit when I read about the first 3 cases after the Boks 'returned to camp' I thought WTF, haven't these clowns been living in a bubble like the rest of the professional sports world? The Springboks need to swallow their pride and Covid test all their professional players in a ranked...

Nic White won’t be kicking many. EDIT: nor JOC (James O'Connor) for that matter. Since I posted though I realise you’re talking in general, not just this test. My bad.

He’s played a fair bit of fullback in his career. The only other option in the current 23 would be Wright, so it’s possible that is Rennies other consideration.

Winter Tour; Wallabies v France Wednesday 7 July, Brisbane

Given Banks hasn’t really nailed down the 15 jersey, I’m wondering if it’s actually his spot he’s challenging for, not Hodge’s.

Winter Tour; Wallabies v France Wednesday 7 July, Brisbane

I like it, there’s a bit of forward planning there by the looks of it.

Yes, he's only started one I think. For the record, I wasn't advocating for or against Gordon starting, only pointing out that McDermott is new on the scene and is still getting an opportunity from the bench.

That's true, forgot about that - I'll insert the word 'largely' in front of uncapped

Winter Tour; Wallabies v France Wednesday 7 July, Brisbane

Well he'll be on the bench. Given he's uncapped I'd call that an opportunity.

I wouldn't be surprised if the centres are the other way around.

Both major outlets reporting that Gordon will be starting. Team will be announced at lunchtime. The inferred team is: James Slipper, Brandon Paenga-Amosa, Taniela Tupou, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Matt Philip, Rob Valetini, Michael Hooper, Harry Wilson, Jake Gordon, Noah Lolesio, Marika Koroibete...

There is a bit of hinting in some media that Hodge will be 10 for the first test.

Surely as he's French we're allowed to call him La Bamba?

I’m guessing we will get a team announcement today some time. Apparently it was picked on Thursday.

NZ July 2021 Tests (& other matches)

They don’t get to sign up to it, if they aren’t selected they can be picked up ad lib by a (say) lower than 12th ranked nation as long as both parents have a passport to said nation. As per the comments directly above it’s a stretch to call it a test match anyway. Yes, all this would need...
