Alan Jones gives it to the young Wallabies

I agree with everything you say there Ash. Jones is a very good motivator. Even his detractors agree with that. He talked to us about commitment. He asked us to think about why we play the game and what we want to achieve each time we run out, in each collision, contact, each time we get the...

    Smith boned?

What Smith does well is make contributions that bring results. Wasnt there a test earlier in the year where he threw the last pass for 3 tries? He also makes crucial turnovers and does a lot of tidying up. Pocock does more work, yes. However he is still less effective than Smith for the reasons...

Deans pushing for domestic comp in Oz

Lee I have a smattering of experience at Manly v the filthy Rats games. I have never liked playing or watching rugby at Rat Park. Its in the middle of nowhere and, notwithstanding that its built for rugby, isnt conducive to non-rugby types dropping in to see what's happening. That is why Manly...

    Smith boned?

Smith has consitently been one of our better players this year. He isnt a natural 8 and dropping him based on a poor performance at 8 playing in a well beaten pack would be harsh. He would still be one of the first players picked in my team. Robinson, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Smith then start asking questions.

Deans pushing for domestic comp in Oz

There are some good ideas here. I think the ARC Mark II has merit. As mentioned, costs should be cut. Play at suburban ovals which have a reputation for getting good crowds and charge $10 for adults. Students, pensioners and children free. A small point, but Rat Park is a horrible place to...

Alan Jones gives it to the young Wallabies

I dont have any time for Jones' opinion on most things, but in a previous life, he spoke to the club I used play for. He has a power with words and a presence that has to be witnessed to be believed. I almost felt that I could have run through a wall afterwards.

    Mortlock musings..

They won't replace him. They should though and if they did it should be with Tyrone Smith - able to play 12, 13 and wing.

    Too much youth over experience?

Contrast Growden with Wayne Smith. Growden is innuendo, Smith actually talks to the guys involved. It sounds as though the bottom line is that Mortlock and, probably, Giteau were slightly annoyed about the way things were handled but will get over themselves...

    QLD Reds 2010

It will be interesting to listen to the banter before the NSW v QLD game with Link coaching the reds and Foley in the Tahs camp. Maybe they will send sledges to each other to read out. Lindo, dont worry, you and I both know Foley was born and raised in NSW. However, like Latham, he became...

    Mortlock dumped as captain

I'm not sure I have seen anything from Elsom that marks him as a captain but, who knows, it could be the making of him. Does he have previous captaincy experience? I would probably go left field and pick TPN with Moore to take over when they swap. Both are eloquent, seem sensible and are at...

    Mortlock dumped as captain

Forgive the melodramatic headline, its taken directly from the article. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,26184189-5015651,00.html

Pick your Wallaby team for EOYT

I dont think Uni has had any midget 10s that are still playing. Their "graduates" include Brock James and Chris Malone though neither is a midget. Chris Malone is an interesting one. A successful club player who I never really rated (even at club level) and notoriously bad trainer who has gone...

    QLD Reds 2010

welcome aboard. I like the surrealism angle too. As for the Reds, it shows how misguided and desperate they are to try to "explore" this "legal loophole". There are no quick fixes. Focus on getting the basics right lads and leave the show ponies in the stable.

Lindo are you outing yourself as a Wagga Waratah or a NSW Waratah? If the latter, you'd better fess up old son. Off topic, thanks for the tip re the Jugiong Cellar - nice people and good wine.

Pick your Wallaby team for EOYT

Why don't we just wait until the next S14 and tell you "I told you so" then without having to risk a couple of test losses in the meantime?

Pick your Wallaby team for EOYT

This has to be a wind up. Carter is a below average S14 player. I would play AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 12 if we want a crash baller and bring Tyrone Smith into the squad as his back up.

Those highlights almost make me believe in the Wallabies again. Almost.

    Waratahs 2010

I thought the youngest of the Fa'inga brothers was the openside back up (and quite good too). I reckon he will surpass Vanderglas soon if he hasnt already.
