    Oz Rugby Journalism

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,26277055-5015651,00.html I like what Bret Harris is trying to do here, its just that I disagree with almost all of his analysis. His "fool's metres" would just allow the ABs to gain momentum and effecting a turnover is harder than he makes it...

    JAMES OCONNOR

It is almost as though Tom Carter has some sort of vampire effect. First it was waratahjesus, then Bruce Ross and now Biffo. Who will be next?

    Tuqiri signs with Leicester Tigers

Ok S14 player, not test standard (based on my definition in the other thread). I don't miss him and I'm glad the ARU and Waratahs have the cash to spend elsewhere.

    Dwyer's Wisdom

Ok, facing up to our ills. 1. We dont have three consistently test class locks. 2. Our hookers are great in the scrum and loose but can't throw straight. 3. We don't have a test class 6. 4. We don't have a consistently test class 8. 5. We don't have a test class 10. 6. We only have one test...

    Poms Vs Wallabies

I agree with Scotty and Cyclo. Ball carrying locks - Brad Thorn, Simon Shaw, Paul O'Connell, Alun Wynn-Jones. You need the big munters to take the pressure off your other ball carriers. Particularly against static defence, the big fellas shunt it up, take the hit and, hopefully, push the...

    Poms Vs Wallabies

Hynes let in the first try. I didn't think his performance was great. The talk about Genia having a poor game is unfair. He had trouble getting fast ball out because the ABs were slowing it down beautifully (if the ref allows it its not cheating) and the Wallaby forwards didnt show enough...

Who was our (the wobs) 2005 Backs/Attack coach?

    Why is it ironic?

I like the move of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to 12. If he can produce the same sort of performance he did against the Barbarians, I will be very happy. That was his best game in gold. The problem is JOC (James O'Connor) at fullback. Barnes is very injury prone.

    Tokyo Wallaby 22

The TSF crowd are as confused as us at the dropping of Smith. It is Deans' biggest mistake since he arrived. Maybe naza's theory is right, but if so, why not just drop Giteau and get on with it. By the time the ABs scored their 2 tries (and during the period the Wobs supposedly gave up) Smith...

    Bad news

Good point about the rush defence and I agree completely that he has had time to adjust. Another thing I noticed early in the season was that he was standing closer to Lealifano to help in that defensive channel (ie he thought Lealifano would miss the tackle and stood close to help). This meant...

    Bad news

Its a good creed to live by Bruce. Here are some stats for each of them for the full season: 1. Smith - http://www.sarugby.com/news/Stats_Centre_2009/pid=1729.html 2. Carter - http://www.sarugby.com/news/Stats_Centre_2009/pid=393.html I couldnt post them as a table. I'm surprised by Smith's...

    Tokyo Wallaby 22

Wrong decisions re Smith, Giteau and Barnes. Apart from that, I dont have any gripes with the 22. Good luck to Pocock although I think Smith will be back.

    Bad news

Disappointing for Horne but T. Smith should arguably have been picked in front of him to start with based on form this season. A good replacement. Gerrard had plenty of hamstring problems but eventually worked out how to manage them. Horne should speak to him.

Lakepa is a good THP. He will do well at that level. Good on him for giving it a crack.

    John Eales Medal 2009

Sharpe played well on the NH tour last year which is where he accumulated a chunk of his points. Robinson was not so prominent over there. We are only remembering the domestic season.

    Smith boned?

Not at the expense of putting your best team on the paddock for a test match. Pocock should start on the bench until he demands selection or Smith retires. He is getting experience from the bench and, if he develops, will be ready to start in due course.

You mean like the English circa 2003?

Deans pushing for domestic comp in Oz

Grumbles is in bed with Easts, Randwick and Sydney Uni who dont want another ARC. Lee, it does take different types but sometimes the different types need to agree eg SANZAR. I think our difference of opinion is purely tribal which is good. Brookvale might be a satisfactory compromise as it...
