    Wallaby 6,7,8

TPN is a hooker. There was a reason he moved there. Elsom is a 6. There is a reason he hasn't played more at 8 and its not because we've had plenty of good 8s. Each backrow spot is a specialist position. There are rare players who can cover a couple of spots at S14 level but, as I've said...

    The Carl Hayman Saga

Where do you get momentum from if you've been sitting down?

    The Carl Hayman Saga

Sitting down between each one is harder than not doing so because your leg muscles have to "refire".

    French Six Nations Grand Slam?

Welcome Djoudy68. An international flavour to this forum is particularly welcome. You may need to bear with us some of the time as we are very Australian centric (though you probably know that). Your English is very good and far better than our French.

    Palmer Gooone - Douglas Stays

Well that explains your dislike for backs: you had to hang around with them for a while.

    Tahs v Force

Or me. I'm not sure it would work (though it wouldnt work any worse than the current option) but a back row of Mowen, Palu and Dennis might be interesting. There is no true fetcher, but Mowen would do ok and genuine fetchers don't seem to have as much of a place in today's game. Sadly, for...

    Palmer Gooone - Douglas Stays

I'm not trying to be difficult, but how many years?

    Brumbies v Blues - Auckland

Here is an early prediction: Andrew Smith, named on the bench this week, will play Oz A and, perhaps, make the EOYT this year. From what I've seen and heard, he is a good player and has the game to go further.

    Spot on Spook.

    Palmer Gooone - Douglas Stays

Nick how long have you been playing front row?

    Scotty Staniforth

Spot on Noddy. Still a very good player and would contribute to the culture Macqueen wants.

    Mortlock for Aussie Fullback!

Mortlock played 15 in colts and, iirc, for oz u19s/u21s. He needs to be put out to pasture now though. I hope the Rebels don't sign him.

Brothers Vs Uni - gimp fight

Given everyone complains about the big gap between grand finals and eoyt in Oz, this should be at the end of the season.

    Wallaby Squad Predictions 2010!

Some curious selections here. Giteau is not a 9. Giteau is not a 10. I'm not sure what Barnes is. JOC (James O'Connor) isn't sure what he is. No one is sure what AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is. Next year is RWC time. Deans will blood a few players in the June tests and the EOYT. I reckon Weekes, Douglas, Mowen, Higgenbottom...

    O'Driscoll - 100 caps and concussions

Oh, and well done BOD. I've not liked him quite so much since the NZ Lions tour during and following which he seems to have become something of a whiner. However, he is a quality player and there is no denying that he has been a talisman for Ireland for a long time.

    O'Driscoll - 100 caps and concussions

We lost Flats to concussion. There are others who have suffered from it over the years and, as I understand it, once you've had it a few times over a short period you are more prone to getting concussion. A medico might tell me I'm talking rubbish but that seems to have been a theme a few times...

    Pecking order: Number 8

So you like small, slow no. 8s without great ball skills? There is a real lack of depth in Oz at the moment. I would expect Hodgson to play no.8 for the Wobs before half the guys mentioned here. Hopefully one of the youngsters will come through and Palu will stay.

    Pecking orders

So, a thread which is a discussion on having a discussion about something else. Quality.

    Hangers

Hangers has been compared to Larkham and Wilkinson in this thread. That is like comparing Ben Hand to John Eales and Martin Johnson. He does ok at S14 level. He does well at club level. He plays a lot like a halfback in rugby league. As has been mentioned, he doesnt have a long passing or...

Are the All Blacks Secretly Destroying the Wallabies?

Me too. It doesn't matter what he thinks, he is not a 10.
