    Rocky road ahead for Rocky...........

I don't disagree with this Scotty. I'm becoming less and less convinced Rocky will "rediscover" (I wasn't a huge fan when he left for Leinster) his best form. An equivalent to Rocky, who hasn't received enough press is David Dennis. Good lineout option, strong ball runner and hard worker. He's...

The positives & failings from Bledisloe 1 2011

I didn't notice it during the game but happy to be corrected if you did. He's a big, strong bloke and that is what he should be doing so I hope you're right.

The positives & failings from Bledisloe 1 2011

I disagree. We know that Genia and QC (Quade Cooper) need front foot ball to operate effectively. The forwards didn't give it to them. The ABs dominated the contact zone and were expert in their ability to slow down the ball. Genia was doing his best to create momentum by running to the line and trying to find...

The positives & failings from Bledisloe 1 2011

I haven't rewatched it, but I thought he was ineffective at the breakdown too often. I'd say he'd lead the team in breakdown "flops" but they don't secure ball or clean out kiwis.

Line-out Laws & Tactics, any fellow back rowers out there? Need advice!

A few thoughts: 1. If its easy, its because your opposition back rowers aren't blocking you. If you try to run through they should be dropping the shoulder and otherwise causing you trouble. 2. If you do hare after the half, make sure someone else is covering the dummy or step. You've left a...

If you do nothing else on G&GR, you've just earned your stripes right there buddy.

    Richie McCaw

I'm not sure who has or hasn't seen this, but I thought it was terrific. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrzcMagsWUM

Stuart Barnes is trolling once again...

If Leinster had had the season the Crusaders have had, they'd have been lucky to make it out of the tunnel. And I mean no disrespect to Leinster.

    Reds MOM - FINAL

    3. Robinson 2. Horwill 1. Lance HMs Reds front row (apart from the scrums), Simmons, Samo (although he made a few mistakes he was at the heart of the Reds defensive effort), Tapuai, Fainga'a (both centres also at the heart of the defensive brick wall) and Ioane. Cooper and Genia didn't kick well...

SupeRugby Final 2011: Queensland Reds V Canterbury Crusaders

Without taking away from the win, because you can only play the team that turns up, I have no doubt the repeated errors by the Crusaders in the second half are partly attributable to fatigue. I thought Ellis outplayed Genia while he was on (Genia scored his try after Ellis had been replaced)...

SupeRugby Final 2011: Queensland Reds V Canterbury Crusaders

Jonno Lance played well too. Well done Reds. Two sides who gave everything. Both sides looked tired at the end but especially so for the Crusaders.

    Shute Shield 2011

Manly won in '97 lily. I haven't looked, but who, apart from those three, has won since then?

    Semifinal 1: Reds V Blues

Reds forwards won the collisions tonight. I thought that was the difference. Everytime the Blues had the ball, they found it difficult to get over the advantage line because the Reds defence was so aggressive and effective. Its clear that the focus is on the first part of the tackle. You can see...

Semifinal #1 Reds V Blues MOM

    3. Horwill - immense. 2. Cooper - it's a pity there isn't a better kicker in the Reds run on side. 1. Davies - 3 tries.

    Waratahs 2012

Bruce I couldn't agree more. This typifies the "buy now, pay later" mindset which ought to be resisted at all costs.

    Why is Tom Carter unpickable?

Perhaps I should have said: "Statistics don't capture everything and TC having excellent defensive statistics doesn't mean he can't be a liability in defence." Instead of relying on everyone to understand that was the implication. Cyclo and others, rest assured, I'm not judging the guy on this...

    Why is Tom Carter unpickable?

Perhaps you can re-read what I wrote and reconsider whether you need to ask the question.

    Why is Tom Carter unpickable?

TC doesn't miss many tackles, but he sometimes doesn't get in a position to make them either. Watch the Brumbies late try against the Tahs in the last round. Carter's lack of speed led to Pakalani doubting (correctly in my view) that TC would get his man. Pakalani came off his wing creating the...
