Waratahs in talks with James Haskell, Mike Phillips and Dwayne Peel

Bartman, are you the same bartman from tsf? If so, welcome aboard it will be good to get some fresh Kiwi input.

The Ongoing Tragedy of the Waratahs

1 I mentioned on one of the Brumbies coaching threads a month or so ago that the Brumbies needed to have a structural audit of their organisation by external sources. The 'tahs have changed their off-field organisational structure this year (not sure if they have appointed 2 CEOs yet?) but...

The Ongoing Tragedy of the Waratahs

This has been a problem for the 'tahs since the early days of Super rugby. Back then there appeared to be a mentality amongst NSW players that if they outplayed their Australian opposite in a head-to-head tussle then they were more likely to be selected for the Wallabies.

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

Watch the first two games last night - a tale of two derbies on opposite sides of the ditch with a mate who is more a league fan than a union fan. The first game between the Highlanders and the Crusaders had him in awe with its intensity (reminded me of Bob Dwyer's article a couple of weeks ago...

    Shute Shield 2011

I watched the TV game where Easts were able to hold off Randwick for the win. I was hoping for an Easts win (lesser of two evils and all that) and was screaming at the TV when the referee alloweda penalty advantage for Randwick to go for 10+ phases in the last minute before Easts pilfered and he...

How does the surf over in Western Australia compare to his hometown break of Avoca? Has he considered finishing his playing days back on the Central Coast?

Waratahs in talks with James Haskell, Mike Phillips and Dwayne Peel

back on topic.... If the 'tahs are in talks with these three players is it safe to assume that they have come to a decision of some sort as to who will be the coach next year? Surely they wouldn't be chasing signatures without knowing who will be head coach (although it is the Waratahs).

    Newcastle Hunter Rugby Union

Cheers for that Seahorse. Southlakes ground is very nice, played a trial against them in my final season. I heard one story about a game in the NHRU where one club (Singleton?) used to have inmates from the local prison playing for them and during a game two such inmates made a break for...

    Central Coast Rugby Union 2011

Wednesday's Express said the whole round was washed out (not sure how that happened considering it didn't start raining until Saturday) and will be replayed over the June long weekend. There is a general bye this weekend.

    Waratahs 2012

Is Tim Bennetts likely to get a contract with the 'tahs next year (one of the rookie ones)? Watching him play for Eastwood in the Shute Shield he looks a class above that level.

    Rugby - not set pieces

I thought you got an answer a couple of posts later. Yes, there is a trophy for Super rugby, has been since at least S12 days in 1996. That is why they have a presentation ceremony after the final siren and photos of the winning team holding it with confetti going off all around them. Maybe we...

    Brumbies 2011

So what should the focus for the Brumbies be for the rest of 2011? Player development in lieu of next years departures or try to win as many games as possible? I think a mix of the two would be best, new players to S15 need to both learn how to play to the speed of this level and also how to win...

    Central Coast Rugby Union 2011

The results for round 3 have yet to be posted so I'm not sure if the round was a washout or the person responsible has gone away for the weekend. Did Avoca play Gooch? p.s what happened to the deadwood avatar?

Brumbies - lack of recruitment for 2012 and beyond

You said it yourself, the first person the Brumbies need to sign is a head coach. The right head coach will attract players to the ACT. The Brumbies may be going back to their original successful formula to targeting the best juniors and discards of NSW and Queensland. I wouldn't be too worried...
