    Rebels 2017

The odd part of that sentiment is that if it were true Cox was going to benefit more financially if the Force are cut if he retained the licence. So why cut and run (mid battle of all times) when your the hero unless you can see a convenient exit to save face, reputation (business and...

    Rebels 2017

Unless the ARU say no funding to the VRU at all levels (as well as a few other nasty options) then what? You sure its a better option? Do the VRU fall under the ARU umbrella like all the other unions?

    Rebels 2017

MRRU or VRU? Are they different or one in the same now?

    Rebels 2017

IIRC the Funding agreement with Cox as forwarded loaded and decreasing. I also wonder if it was with Imperium exclusively. Most private funding arrangement are to particular entities and not transferable.

Can't disagree there about the ARU but its becoming pretty clear that Cox had seen the writing on the wall and has offloaded it the best way he can to protect his brand. But still many. like me, can't see what this change brings.

Still can't see the relevance of the ownership change in this. Which ever parties head the agreement on the Rebels side its the same agreement. Does the ARU have any funding agreement with the VRU?

    Rebels 2017

That's comedy gold! Does that mean if the ARU say no they wont host any Bledisloe cup games or fund the Rebels? Still can't see how the change in licence makes a difference TBH. Same contacts and agreement, just different owner.

yes. The GWS have 4 games a year that are heavily subsidised and in part manufactured. The ACT Government gives them $550K per game (so ticketing can be set to maximise attendance) and they also shut down all AFL local (all levels including Jnr) games on those dates to ensure that no AFL...

    Rebels 2017

Ah, I was unaware that the AFL crowd in round 17 (as per the context of the comment about crowds of Melbourne based sports) all attend the G.

305000 AFL crowd v 9000 for the last Rebels home game. I will not waste my time comparing TV ratings. Very anecdotal

Yep, i believe you are correct. Now think how many of the Aussie Super Rugby teams sponsors are international or are looking to advertise globally.

    Rebels 2017

The size of Canberra market is only holds limited relevancy in the context of this discussion. Per capita the Brumbies have the highest proportionate base of members / supporters and crowds In as far as rating they punch above their weight being close to the Tahs and Reds. There...

    The Wallabies Thread

As soon as I read your post all i could think about was Hoopers whinge to the Referee mid game awhile back which IIRC went along the line of; "I'm trying but they wont listen to me". My other favourite was when one of referee mid game refused to help him and reminded him he was Captain and it...

2017 TV ratings and crowd figures

At kick off it the official temp was 0.5c . Add in the concrete jungle and its even colder. The walk to the car in -2c is not that much fun either. Real feel was f#*@img freezing! Add it other factors like a gap of 7 weeks since a home game, the usual poor marketing done by the Brumbies, a...

    Waratahs 2018

Ah, gee. I cant take the credit because if you hop over in to the Brumbies forums you will soon find out that my criticisms (or putting the boot in) is not exclusively reserved for the Tahs, nor any one team actually. I may have, as times, been known to be a wee bit (a lot) critical of...

    Waratahs 2018

Hi and welcome You must be new here. You got the answer correct with your second point: 2/ The Tahs, and their current players, their future players, their current coaching regime, their past coaches and players, their children will all be discovered through detailed research and absorbing...

    Waratahs 2018

That's s broad brush and I would question the veracity of such s statement. I don't know if he was pushed ot jumped, I think jumped. IIRC 3yrs was his longest tenure at a club.

David Knox then Allen Gaffney. I like your observation and it's something that occurs in business. The quick results come at the expense if long-term success and stability. Same as drafting in superstars for a year.when they go you have to start rebuilding from scratch again.

    Waratahs 2018

Happy to disagree. I was only going off history which shows one successful year in most of his tenures. History also says one of the feature of his coaching appointments has been the people he personally brought in. Most of his tenures ended with the teams on a downward performance trajectory...
