    Where to for Super Rugby?

^^^^^ some insight: In the aftermath of the Western Force’s axing, Rugby Union Players’ Association chief executive Ross Xenos will lead talks on behalf of players and has questioned how the ARU is earning an extra $30 million a year through their broadcast deal yet still crying poor. Xenos...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

So is the key is Wallabies selection or not? Could he contract the 60 cappers as they are already eligible?

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

I am so glad the ARU know what the "A" stands for.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

The irony of your comment BR is that it has the perfect scenario that would have given the ARU a perfect way of getting of cutting a franchise and renegotiate the TV deal without being an outright villian. Both the Force and the Rebels and arguably any of the other franchises are close to bust...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

However, it does mean it will be interesting to watch the new CA bargaining rounds when they resume and if RUPA they can stall it in to next year...........

Bankrupt unions - keep the SS ARU alive and hope for a rescue?

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

No. The ARU have shown its not really each team's share of the broadcast rights. If it were their money it would flow directly to the franchise's and the ARU would not be taking the $5.7mil; equivalent to the 5th franchises portion. The Franchise's would be making more offsetting the ARU...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Exactly. Nothing about other cost like funding to keep Super Rugby franchises or Unions going. The $6Mil figure always seemed so arbitrary and I wonder if it included any sponsorship offsets as I know they have an agreement with Qantas.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

True. I bet the 50 Ex-Force employees probably are releived it's only a game.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

IIRC the savings were based on Cox wearing all the costs using the forward funding and reductions on ARU funding for the Rebels. But that changed with the sale and $20mil pledge from the Vic government. So that is about $6,5mil a year to fund everything Rebels over the duration of the TV...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

I thunk the Japan horse has bolted somewhat. Between the Japaneses feeling nervous about crowds for the RWC and the not-so-good Super Rugby experience which they appeas to be hanging in with (due to necessity with the RWC) than keen on I think the NZRU are left with a broke basket-case ARU and the...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

What you don't have is the Force related to nothing history as of a few days ago. You (Force) have a potential future as a starting point. Having one of the biggest backers in Aussie rugby history tying to create more for the Force. Having potentially teams in both the existing and future...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

I believe the devil is in the detail and its appears to be a clever strategy that prepositions his competition well as it does for Aussie Rugby if it pans out. This looks like a long term strategy and its also appears not to be detrimental to existing parts of the game. Its interesting that...

Apparently Twiggy offered them $80mil which they said that couldn't accept due to some deal they were locked in to!:p

    Force 2018

Oztimmay - It would be interesting to see where the line would be in this if you argued against the commercial in confidence caveat if it involved Government funding for non-commercial use as it could be in the public's interest being amateur sporting unions involved essentially.

    Force 2018

Even if they could they would remain suppressed and the be dealt with behind closed doors which does happen in certain circumstances. FWIW I believe its your latter reason. The CBR times had tried on multiple occasions to FOI documents and the ACT Gov keeps rejecting / playing funny buggers...

    Force 2018

My community service: So for those that want to play along at home here is your chance to have your say. Its an audience and at least you get to have a say. Will it do anything? Saying or doing nothing certainly wont. Your submission could ensure the committee are well informed about the...

    Force 2018

Its a context and language thingy: The Australian government does not have jurisdiction over international things, only national things involved in international things so its sounds clumsy but it captures the essence of what is meant and its understood. It also covers (captures) the NRC (and...
