    The Wallabies Thread

Its intriguing to consider that what can be done at Super Rugby level seem unable to be replicated at the Wallabies level. The Wallabies seem to of a lower standard in comparison to what Super Rugby teams and coaches are producing. We may have a coaching deficiency, but the Super Rugby coaches appear to be able to do what...

RC5: Springbokke vs Wallabies @ PE

At some point I would like to see the financials on the payout option (save the game payment) v lost sponsorship, revenue, etc. Or, the even simpler measure is of the Wallabies win anything in an empty stadium that seats 50, and it is being broadcast live on TVSN on 4am, is saving the million...

    Brumbies 2019

But Hill's role wasn't just focused on top-end talent and helping lure players to Canberra. He played a key part in relaunching the academy for the first time in six years, identifying a group of talented teens to train. "Historically recruitment and management of lists have been done by the...

    Rebels 2019

The trick was you had to stare at front of the Rebels jersey, tilt your head slightly left, squint hard and you can clearly see its a cleverly hidden capital "R" and capital "A". The 2019 RA logo will be in a special ink that can only be seen under blacklight. It might be hard to see, but we...

    Global Rapid Rugby

I think so to. But behind the scenes RA and I bet SANZAAR may be annoyed as one of their future competition options was a pacific option. NZRU have invested heavily in the pacific especially with Fiji. I think RA will be worried the Fijian focus will shift more towards Twiggy. If WSR works the...

    Brumbies 2019

Recruitment (main and development squads) was done by Damian Hill before he left recently. He will be hard to replace. Having Super Rugby coaching experience with a good eye for talent is not a resource in abundance here in Australia. McKellar has been spoilt having him provide him with such good lists...

    Global Rapid Rugby

Fiji being named as part of the WSR to me is fascinating. I will be eager to see how plays out behind the scenes after RA started milking the World Rugby cash cow by getting the Drua in the NRC. Now WSR has WR (World Rugby) on side and has the bigger Fijian prize and potentially the support (financially and...

    Brumbies 2019

I think its a win all-round. He gets opportunity and the right environment to rehab (demons and injuries) with less pressure and expectations. The Brumbies get a good cheap deal on a good player which offsets some of the risks due to his past issues. It also keeps him in the game and give him a...

    Brumbies 2019

You are aware that Hill has departed? :( Personally I would have prefer he took over from McKellar. I cant hep but wonder about the timing noting its to resurrect his coaching career and not too long after the end of season review into McKellar's tenure...

    RC4 - Australia v Argentina

About 16K based off twitter reports. Just above the 14229 crowd at the Puma's game in Canberra last year.

    Brumbies 2019

Played a significant amount of minutes in the centres for the CBR Vikings in 2017 and looked really good. Bit of a revelation in fact (and probably what Nth Harbour have seen). Has played in the centres for the Brumbies on a few occasions. I believe he played in the centres in his youth and...

    Brumbies 2019

Have to agree to disagree with you on this one BR. I actually think post RWC both will be tempted O/S as they will both only be on the fringe of the Wallabies. The other issue is they are both best suited to 13. IMHO judging Reds players performances in recent Reds teams is hard. Even the world...

    Brumbies 2019

Thats a good point about his age but Aussie rugby right now is about the immediate future so getting a season would suffice, two would be a bonus. Having Simone as well as a few other options means the Brumbies would be fairly safe should he pull up lame. The other benefit is he might come at...

    Brumbies 2019

I would be taking Hunt before Kerevi. I think he would be a better option as a play-maker, stronger in defence and is fairly versatile in that he can cover a few different positions if required. I would want a pretty strict contract with a instant exit clause though.

    Australian Rugby / RA

The GWS figures include the Canberra (region) catchment which is quite strong. The problem is that the games are split between the locations so only part of the membership will travel to attend both.

    Reds 2019

Some time the teams don't need to make a play, they will come to them. https://www.news.com.au/sport/cricket/big-bash/ellyse-perry-may-be-headed-to-victoria-after-admitting-she-wants-to-put-family-first/news-story/6eeb3121f712b99efd495bd8c89f91c2

    Brumbies 2019

Think this says it all: .....who [Brumbies] would have been forced to go searching for a world-class flyhalf if Lealiifano decided to end his Super Rugby career.

I love the McKeller "no rocks stars" but instead he wants x-factor. I really thought the x-factor thing was done.

    Brumbies 2019

I have said on a few occasions that the back half of the season was like the players were let lose to play "their" game. It looked more like individual players making the difference 'collectively' rather than a distinctive change in game plan. I wonder if the word "responsibly" is being...

    Brumbies 2019

Interesting read. This explains so much and also validates many suspicions about McKellar's capabilities as coach. Best left to the players it appears: The Brumbies were sitting inside Sydney Airport waiting for a flight to South Africa and stewing on a fifth loss in a row when McKellar...
