Well, it's final week of GPS '22 and it wouldn't be G&GR forum this week without: - Year 12 boys from multiple schools putting out good yarns about their mates in the 6ths getting a start in 2nds this week - Mathematical calculations about if 'team A wins' and 'team b can beat team c' then Team...

I believe the Barker backslapping forum is over on the CAS thread. (And yes, Katoa is a terrific young man by all accounts).

    NSW AAGPS 2022

Not exactly. In the 2021 trial View got a 20 point lead and Joeys came back and drew level 38-38. View scored on the last play of the game to get the win 45-38. Hardly a thumping.

Ok, two rounds to go and who can still win a premiership: 1st XV Joeys 6 Newington 4 Scots, Shore, View, Kings 2 On balance, Joeys in the box seat with New hoping for a stumble. A View win tomorrow could change the whole competition mood. The trailing pack of Scots, Shore, View and Kings need...

Brial played well in the 2nd row in the seconds. Defended brutally. He and his tight five colleagues got the better of their counterparts, particularly in the driving maul, to help Scots have an upset win in the 2nds. The Joeys 8 and 9 are standout players but they needed a bit more polish...

    NSW AAGPS 2022

I feel Scots will really kick themselves about their loss yesterday. With Ollie Cummins actually playing (and very well), Joeys without Max Jorgensen, stealing TEN Joeys lineouts, and playing at home - what more would you need in your favour? On the flip side, Joeys did what they do best -...

Joker, fantastic documentation of records. Any good stories of schools stacking their 2nds to win a premiership?
  8. Cockatoo Run

    NSW AAGPS 2022

Great previews Joker. After a month of putting up with endless dribble on why some 15 year old kid from Scots named Finn did or didn't get dudded in rugby, thank goodness the real stuff has resumed.

On the Cluch phone app the game is showing. I had the issue 2 weeks ago, phone app worked properly and tv app didn’t, even when updated and reinstalled.

I think, in order: Barker - Joeys - Kings - Scots - Shore - Knox - Wave - View - New - then daylight... Will all look different again by 13 August.

    NSW AAGPS 2022

Some excellent debate on GPS selections. With 6 relatively close teams in relation to talent (and close scores when playing each other so far) it will be very competitive. One consideration is lineout combinations. If, as most agree, Ollie McCrea (Scots) is one second row, then he is a lifter...

Before e Before you all get too excited at certain players getting off lightly ........ it is the blonde No. 16 replacement making the high tackle and not Jorgensen who wears No.15. (its very clear on Cluch). And yes, very lucky not to get a yellow card.

Thanks for a great preview Bob. Small correction though, it’s The Catholics vs The Jesuits. The only thing these schools have in common is the Pope.

Knox would want to improve greatly compared to last week. 48-26 flattered them greatly (Knox got 2 intercept tries, and Joeys still left a lot of points out there). Hard to think they will play that badly again this year but its a long way back from that performance.

    NSW AAGPS 2022

It's difficult for a number of reasons. For example, Scots will have pretty much played every GPS school in a trial before selections and Shore will have only played one GPS school - Scots (next week). Do GPS selectors prefer to watch two GPS teams play? Does this help or hinder Scots or Shore...

    NSW AAGPS 2022

Thanks Bob. Great preview. If Jack Barrett is ruled out that is a huge loss for Joeys. Sounds like there are some impressive young players from famous families in the Scots team, will watch with interest. Getting close to GPS selections, very hard to see any team dominating selections on what...

Spot on WLF3. League boys do tend to have that bit extra when it comes to tackling and dynamic ball carrying. The teams with a lot of league boys sometimes come unstuck at the breakdown when in possession. It's foreign to waste your energy coming into a ruck when your team has the ball. Having...
