    Waratahs v Chiefs - Friday 11 April 2025

4 reds cards so far this season, and 5 suspensions by the judiciary

    Reds v Brumbies Rd 9 Sat 12th April @ Suncorp 7.35pm AEST

The Lolesio/McDermott tackle was in line with the guidelines I thought. Head contact? Yes (or at least high contact) Foul play? Yes Degree of Danger? Low. Indirect force (hit his shoulder first). Low force (hit with arm, not shoulder) Dynamic (became dangerous through the tackle as the arm...

    Super Rugby Pacific 2025

I really don't like the new finals system. Come 4th, lose a final and you probably still make the semi

    Waratahs v Chiefs - Friday 11 April 2025

Unfortunately, it was far more than 1 moment as far as I could tell. Even when he was in the line he was basically hands on knees blowing like a flathead out of water. I've been a defender of his position in the Wallabies, but it's not tenable now.

Having said that, if anyone wants a good laugh, watch the last 5 mins of phase play after the siren, but only focus on Tupou. It's hilarious. He looks like a 5th grader playing his first game of the year

    Waratahs v Chiefs - Friday 11 April 2025

I'll give you a free tip. The masses are never going to flock to game where the last 10 minutes takes 18 minutes, the home team doesn't touch the ball, but has 8 penalties, a yellow card, 7 scrums and 4 lineouts, and the ultimate play is 30+ phases for -25m, and the game ends with a knockdown...

    Super Rugby Pacific 2025

Pretty critical day today. Reds win and they go Top 2 with their destiny in their own hands. Brumbies win, and it's status quo, with a bunch of Aussie teams playing to see who loses a semi in NZ

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

We would be better off getting a game a week on YouTube then FTA if we want accessibility

Well they couldn't use this shot!

    Waratahs v Chiefs - Friday 11 April 2025

The TMO definitely ruled that it was grounded simultaneously on the goal line and the touch in goal line. Play restarted with a 22 drop out as per above.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Should add that prior to 1996, the local FTA rights deals were ludicrous. Kerry Packer got the rights to the ARL for $1million in 1990. There was no broadcast revenue from the terrestial stations. When union gets offered $555m by News in 1996, everyone thought PayTv was going to wipe FTA off...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I think we need to be realistic with this hindsight business. There has never been a market for FTA Super Rugby. Even test matches barely attracted any interest. You can't run a professional sport with this kind of revenue Details here - $2m a year in the early 2010s (this is Foxtel onselling...

    Wallabies 2025

Has any journalist asked anyone at the Tahs or RA why they don't seem to need to follow the same rules as everyone else?

    Waratahs v Chiefs - Friday 11 April 2025

Hopefully that was just a young guy, a new pro fatiguing in the 60-70 minutes, because they are small margins, and his missed tackles lost the game through there (although Creighton doesn't get away scott free either)

    Waratahs v Chiefs - Friday 11 April 2025

Can you put that on the Wallabies 2025 chat so we can get off Lolesio for 5 mins?

    Wallaby Coach after Joe

I suppose the obvious response to that would be, "should you be applying, or be appointed, to the Wallaby head coach role if that's the stage of your career?" Mind you we have tried going with proven winners for a while now, and the highlights from that seem to be some really positive close...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

From the reports today, it sounds like they will probably still be showing some rugby in Gem, they probably just don't want to be contractually obligated to show rugby in Gem every week.

    Northern Hemisphere/6N Rugby

My impression was that the community rugby clubs are the member organisation of the WRU (similar to our member unions). Because of their position at the top of the governance tree, the community clubs take far more money out of the revenue generated by pro rugby than any other union. So in a...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Subscribers are worth far more to Nine than someone watching a game on Gem. Like 10x or 20x more. So a 2% increase in subscribers means 20% to 40% more revenue. Nine/Stan want as many subscribers locked away, paying every month, as they can.
