    CAS Rugby 2017

I suppose there's the thing. All schools have people playing out of position at the moment with injuries. The ones Joeys had out from Scots (week before) and after 6 minutes versus Waverley wouldn't have changed the result but certainly had an effect on the size of the win. I haven't seen so...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

Very early days but I suspect the front runners will be from Kings, Joeys & Scots. Joeys has 14 players in 1sts & 2nds that are year 10 & 11 boys and many of these go up and down depending on injuries (there are plenty at the moment). Speaking of injuries, there does appear to be a lot right...

Surely Riverview & Kings have some sort of claim to the top private school in rugby having just beaten Waverley? These games have shown that on any day you need to be at your best or you will be found out. Waverley were far too good for Joeys but they also lost to Kings. Waverley are definitely...

Yates (J) was a revelation on the weekend - hope he keeps that form up.

Chan did very well as did all of Joeys 1sts & 2nds I thought. Selectors will find it hard to drop anybody coming back from injury save Reilly I suspect. The Scots centres will be glad Eveleigh is out I bet - he caused a lot of dropped ball in the trial & not many hit that hard as the highlights...

Is Knox at full strength? No excuses because we got smashed by Waverley fair and square but Joeys has had a horrendous run of injuries with 11 players over the 1sts & 2nds out last weekend. Losing Eveleigh & Reilly (I'm told neither will be back until next term if at all) are big shoes to fill...

Bit harsh Rob! They will be back don't worry about that!

Should be a great game & test for both schools.

"I think Joeys backs are weak etc " - I think SDW you may revisit that quote after you see a young bloke called Tom Eveleigh (if he's fit for this week - there is a question mark). The hits he made last week caused a lot of dropped ball and his combination with Reilly was a thing of beauty...

Not sure about the penalty count - Scots had plenty for Joeys supposedly hanging onto the ball. Scots' errors were caused by some big defence by the forwards who never took a backward step. What they lacked in size they made up with ticker and speed. Also some of the hits that centre Everleigh...

Big effort by these kids - country rugby players do generally travel well where it's not unusual to travel 3 - 5 hours for a game of footy (Western Plains, Central West, Central North etc) because it's fun and all part of it. Admittedly having finished school and being over 18, we did play up...

I see Joeys have (at last) decided they should look at the 16s for their opens trials which is something they have rarely done in the past unless a player was an absolute standout. Even then they didn't get a trial but the odd one was asked to alternate between 16s & Opens (e.g. Tom Wright)...

War Chest I was there yesterday and Marist thoroughly deserved their win. Joeys were outplayed. It's certainly not panic stations - first game, lots of trials to come & Reilly, Everleigh, Yates, Edstein Boyes etc to come back. Too much dropped ball, penalties - there was so much interchange...

OK I hear you but for me a trial is a trial. Coaches will still be experimenting & the reality is it's just not the same and that is why you have a competition. That is the real world. What other rugby comp goes for 5 games and has more than double the games in trials than the actual comp...

Are you sure about that? GPS already played CAS in trials and they are playing 3 trial games against GPS sides next year in any case. Why didn't they just bring the bigger comp in from the start or play the 2 rounds and plan for the bigger comp in 2018? Endless trials are a farce (not the same...

As recorded by somebody else early in this thread it is a done deal - just ask your sports masters. Unfortunately a very poorly thought out decision & a very regressive step to not find a suitable alternative or at least to seek some feedback from sectors right across the board before throwing...

I am a Joeys supporter but I have to say I am disappointed if it's true that two rounds will be abolished particularly after the last season which had to be one of the best ever. If there has to be one round then I am also a great believer that the other competitions should be brought in...

NSW AAGPS - The Next Generation - U16 Competition, and Presidents XV Rep Team

It's Wednesday and we're still discussing it because it's a forum & responses are still in play such as yours. I love the old fall back that if somebody thinks something's not right "they are living their lives through their kids". At least be original. Since when because it's happened before...
