Wow - sanity of selections based on 2016? So much can change (and has). Take Bockenham for example. Hasn't even been mentioned above and has to be one of the form players and still only in Year 11 and there are some young players from Kings coming through also who are obviously quite talented...

Congrats to Barker on a well deserved win. In fact congrats to the players and coaches on both sides. As always Joeys never gave up and provided a small scare at the end but they should be proud. Make no bones about it, Barker are a very good side. It was a great hit out for us and will...

Yes I hear you Sonny. Not saying the players can't handle the changes but a bit of a surprising risk. Joeys has plenty of depth for talented backs (& forwards). Should be a great game as are some of the other match ups this weekend.

Yes of course. Here’s the thing. Getting combinations that can perform well under pressure is priceless before the comp starts. Trinity showed us up. Yes there is still time but the clock is ticking to get the side settled. Barker is a great “trial” to do things against a quality side. There are...

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Just got to say that I'm a little concerned with Joeys' direction at the moment. Having played just 3 games since early April, word is they have made wholesale changes to the back line this weekend. Xavier Ryan to fullback? My understanding is he has never played there before. O'Brien to O/C and...

Joeys were not robbed - better side won on the day. In fact a draw would have been misleading and Trinity did us a favour.

Joeys were outplayed. Simple as that. It’s amazing what happens when the defence moves up (Shore did not) and puts a side under pressure. This was Joeys’ third game this season and so I was surprised at how well they played against Shore the week before but watching from the side it was pretty...

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Should be interesting. Joeys have played one game and that was back on 7th April. They had planned only for the one game since then which did not go ahead and so in my mind (even with that game being played) raises questions whether such a program is wise - time will tell. It is a long trial...

Grow up you guys. Fact - St Augustine’s advised Joeys last week of term 1. To expect Joeys should have known that you decided to thumb your nose and go to Japan is ridiculous. Downright rude and don’t expect an invite again anytime soon. Joeys should have pulled the whole card but that would...

    ISA 2018

That is not correct. I have spoken to the coaches themselves who had no idea and have been scrambling to find a replacement trial which has been impossible. So, if they had been advised last year they would have had more time to fix it and it wouldn't have been on the schedule in the first...

    ISA 2018

I don’t think so. The Joeys coaches were unaware as of 2 or 3 weeks ago and are not very impressed. They have not been able to find a replacement trial so there has been a stuff up by someone. I’m sure it wasn’t intended but questions will be asked no doubt how this occurred from both sides.

Pretty embarrassing effort from St Augustines deciding to go to Japan presumably after the draw then unless there is some explanation for the poor communication. The supposed benefits of the one round comps and trials for schoolboy selections must surely be seen as a joke. Does anyone know how...

    ISA 2018

Wow! That's disappointing. I wonder if St Augustines advised Joeys that was the case at the time & if all the games will still go ahead in the higher grades? I won't really be surprised if there is a cancellation somewhere in case of injury, mismatch etc - if so, not sure how Joeys would be...

Thanks SS. Will Auggies have a full strength team available for their trial at Joeys or will they be away in Japan?

"Take Shore as 'easybeats' at your peril" should be the mantra of the rest of the coaches.

Barker v Joeys should be a great game. Joeys have a competitive side - whether they have the firepower to match Scots, Kings & Newington time will tell.

New Blog Post: 2018 changes to Sydney schools rugby fixtures

What a disgrace. The players get to play 5 games that count over almost a 5 month period (early April - mid August). So more endless, meaningless, dragged out 'trials', with players going on and off etc. It would have to be one of the most ridiculous schoolboy rugby competition formats in the...

Pretty much agree KicknChase. Only observations would be: Riverview was a bit unlucky not to win and played the better rugby for most of the game; I have seen Dalton's tackle on the Hudl website & it seems he didn't get the ball down - amazing tackle. Rorke doesn't seem to dispute on the...

SDW - wonderful insight with your posts as always. Joeys got away with this one but View will be back no doubt & soon. It was tough to drop Reilly but he understood and accepted and came back harder so fair play to him. Changes to backline a revelation with Reilly at fullback the key - maybe...

Yes you will have to forgive me if we're a bit precious. As a Joeys supporter we don't win too often these days so when we do we take it whether we deserved it or not.
