And, they have just announced that Jock Merriman has been signed as injury cover for Stirzacker. It also looks like Steve Faulau will be staying on as cover for Sexton.

Apparently Shota had a very good game. Perhaps Panasonic are benefiting from Robbie Deans involvement? :p Absolutely! And, in other news, my membership pack finally arrived yesterday. Happy to see that we have Capt'n Higgers photo on the membership card to replace that guy from last year...

Lee, how would you compare Debreczeni and David Horwitz? IIRC, the rebels went after Horwitz first but ended up with Jack. Is there much between them?

I would argue that we desperately need quality players on the bench. There's no doubt that Colby will get plenty of chances to show his stuff this season. If he's good enough for the starting spot he'll get it sooner or later. He's going to have to be very good though to push Fuglistaller out...

The final of Japan's Top League was postponed yesterday due to the weather. It will be played tomorrow instead, tomorrow is a public holiday in Japan. Will probably mean that Shota won't be here for a few more days. I mentioned on here a little while ago that I thought Kosei Ono might be a...

IIRC at last year's Geelong trial there were 14 tries scored. That was pretty exciting and all but I'd like to see a tighter game this time. If they can make 16 turnovers against the 'Canes that would be awesome, but only if we don't concede 18 of our own :)

Interesting piece from Georgina Robinson today regarding the NRC. Especially this bit... What do you make of the idea to send Rebels players to Sydney to play against Melbourne?

Must have been a mistake in the post DVH quoted, there are only 14 names in the second half team. Here's the team from the Rebels' website...

Don't know how he went but he was down to play 20mins against the 'tahs - not named this week.

Especially as this will be Shota's last year. For 2015 we'll probably have Sexton, Leafa and the new EPS guy. BTW, Shota is playing in the Japan Top League final this weekend. Interesting team for this weekend. It looks like the first half we'll see pretty close to the starting backline...

I didn't know who karmichael Hunt or Izzy Falou were until they were signed by AFL teams and it was in the papers that two of the biggest names in NRL had been poached. I wasn't even aware that the Storm had won all of those premierships until it was in the news that they were being taken...

I guess one option for a third hooker would be to promote Pat Leafa from the EPS and give his EPS spot to the best young hooker they can find. Maybe Kosei Ono from Suntory could be worth looking at for 5/8? He's quick, has a good field kicking game and, in a pinch, can take shots at goal...

    JOC (James O'Connor) Gooonne

Any oz team that signs him under those terms deserves to get him.
