The format isn't fair when the worse team gets the benefit of a home final. I would guess though that the various broadcasters have a requirement of at least one final in their respective countries. They're paying the big bucks after all.

Agree but, local footy finals were on - the locals seemed to not even notice there was a rugby game in town. I reckon 90% of the few hundred people that turned up drove there from Melbourne. I'd like to see them put a game on in Bendigo or Ballarat. Both towns have rugby teams.

Yes! If you put on decent quality, competitive games people will watch. No one wants to see one-sided fumble fests (or even close fumble fests for that matter).
