    AIC Rugby 2011

No "well deserved" to Ashgrove? Seems to me that for "the worst Ash 1st XV in 10 years" they must have done something right to share in the premiership, but I guess that sentiment isn't fashionable in this thread. For mine, I agree that Padua and Eddies should be warmly congratulated on...

    AIC Rugby 2011

About my reference to Nudgee, I was not referring to NC or anyone else actively poaching players (although this may well go on), just a perception that good young rugby players may now be deciding (understandably) to head to one of the stronger GPS schools. The AIC comp certainly seems to be...

    AIC Rugby 2011

Sorry latho, wasn't having a go at you. I haven't seen any of these teams play, just having a bit of fun, but is there now an electric clock at Runcorn? Just under 40 years since my first game at Runcorn, still remember well the kikuyu grass and the red dirt. The shame about AIC rugby...

    AIC Rugby 2011

So Ash (presumably) scored 3 converted tries, an unconverted try and kicked a penalty or drop goal within 9 minutes? Wow.

Of the eventual 29 point margin, exactly how many points did Ash put on SLC in the last 10 minutes? According to some of the posts on here, it was one of the luckiest 29 point wins ever. Reminds me of Ash v SLC in 98, Lauries were up 5-0 after 5 mins but luck then deserted them and they lost 76-5.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2011

Perhaps not so much nowadays, but in Qld it used to be fairly common for 15 yo's to play First XV and often representative football in the opens for Qld/Australian schools. From my old school, I can remember Anthony Herbert playing a test for Australian schools whilst still 15, and others...

I have had a root canal, and you're right!

Waratahs show misguided sense of entitlement after tough loss to Reds

The Waratahs' poor sportsmanship, and apparently complete lack of insight into their own deficiencies, makes the win even sweeter. They will never beat a good side without another 12. And Spiro was spot on.

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

AB came from Mosman, I believe, but I am almost certain that he still lives in Brisbane. Having met him a few times post-retirement, one of the great guys of Australian sport (hence he's now a Red!) On topic, please play Carter!

Explains a lot to me. In my day I was bloody slow but geez I had good hands.

    Hard men of australian rugby

For the Queenslanders, Big Petero Civoniceva (the father of the leaguie of the same name) and Rambici Ganilau, who both played for Redcliffe in the 70's/80's. Even Shawry was wary of Big Petero, a mountain of a man who did a short stint in jail for bashing a bloke who attacked him with a tyre...

    Reds vs Rebels - 2011R05

Reds pretty loose and sloppy, no doubt, but probably a good confidence-booster. Only a cameo from Harris, but loved the straight lines he ran, will definitely be getting more game time from now on if not starting at 15. Taps not a 13, maybe we give Will another chance next week. Digby tried...

Brumbies vs Reds, week 3 2011

From a Reds perspective somewhat encouraging, in my view. Winning ugly (reasonable effort, pretty poor execution), a night on the drink, a two week break and hopefully Horwill's return.

    Deans contract extended

You're right, I do enjoy watching England play.....as long as they lose! I'd much rather lose to the AB's than England.

I am, spoke yesterday to a mate who is an exec with St George who said the announcement will be made shortly and offered me tickets when needed. I don't think we were at cross purposes - I mentioned I had seen a photo with the St G logo on the front.

The best XV of players from any school

I saw him sent off twice in 1984, but he wasn't expelled as far as I know!

The best XV of players from any school

Should Quade be classed as an old boy of Churchie, Tokoroa High or Springwood High? If it was based on time spent at the school, Nudgee would be in real trouble! Even Paul McLean only went there for a year. FWIW, I think that Morgan was at Ashgrove longer than Downlands, although...
