    AIC Rugby 2012

Great summary Saecom, that is pretty much spot-on from what I have been told over the years. Effectively, the new TAS"Red" schools, led by John Paul, started running TAS sport their way because they had the numbers over the established TAS schools like Ash, SLC, Villa etc, hence the formation...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

Can't remember exactly how, but due to injuries Bowen played for Qld 1 during the National Champs. Not sure if he was in Year 11 or 12 last year but he was very slight. Has he bulked-up at all?

    AIC Rugby 2012

This is a serious question: do the results referred to above suggest that Peters have done some recruiting for the First XV this year, or have they just been freakishly lucky to have a raft of good players in the one year amid a sea of dross (both present and historically)? I'm not suggesting...

One of the biggest floggings I can remember was Ashgrove v SLC in 98 - Ash won 76-5 after Lauries scored the first try. I think that was the end of the golden era, and quite possibly Ashgrove's best ever side - of the 5 who toured the UK with Australian Schools 4 actually played in the Test XV...

Yeah sorry but for various reasons didn't see too many games over that period - you could well be right. By the way, from what I have seen the Ashgrove sides of the past few years have still had lots of good individuals, just not quite as many per year as there used to be.

My experience/knowledge of Ashgrove rugby goes back to 1972, and whilst there has been some great improvement from schools like Pats, and the emergence of Eddies and Padua, there can be little doubt that in rugby terms Ashgrove has never been weaker than it is now (although as a school I think...

    Tri Nations Game 4 South Africa v Australia - Saturday 13 August 2011 - 3N2011

Wasn't it Steenkamp that was going to destroy our scrum? The guy looks like a villain from a bad pantomime, and scrummaged like one too.

SupeRugby Final 2011: Queensland Reds V Canterbury Crusaders

Others have touched on the Reds game plan, but a mate of mine was talking to Matt Taylor (a good mate of his) after the game and Taylor said that the Reds game plan boiled down to one rule: No scrums! Whatever you do, avoid a scrum at all costs! I guess that explains all the seemingly excessive...

Davies missed out altogether. Injury or form?

Light, have you actually seen a game at these championships? For that matter, did you see a game at the State champs?

Qld 2 is 75 per cent GPS- just maybe some of those kids are vastly overrated by their school devotees.

    Queensland Schools Rugby Merger Idea

99% sure they didn't play this year.

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Greene is well short of the mark from what I have seen, a good kick but reasonably pedestrian in attack. Kent looked OK in the short time he played yesterday offering at least two things Greene doesn't - genuine pace and height - and you could add evasive skills to the list as well. I'd...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Ducked out of work to have a look at the Qld 1 v Victoria game, with the final score being 44-10 in Qld's favour (or thereabouts). Fairly uninspiring game, to be honest, with Qld playing plenty of reserves and seeming to take it fairly easy, the Vics scoring just before the hooter. I am...

Selection politics and bias, Gold Squads unfairness etc.

John Roe played firsts for BBC, even played flyhalf as I recall.

QLD Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2011

AIC 1's performance must come as a surprise to some of the schoolboy keyboard heroes around here (ironically an inordinate number of whom are from GT) who have continually patronized and disparaged any and all AIC players this season. It just might be the case that you don't have to be from a...

    AIC Rugby 2011

All that dominance and only 17 points (and conceding 24). Let's face it, it was all set up for a Padua win if they were good enough - home game, partisan crowd, unbeaten team -but they weren't. It's not like they lost by a point either. One would hope the team were more gracious losers...
