^^^^^ To answer your question, mainly because the boys I'm talking about have specifically been brought to the school to play rugby. I don't know the answer to this, and I guess it could vary from school to school, but are all boys given the option of completing their senior education, or just...

Nope, I'm not saying that now, and if you check my posts you'll note that I haven't said it previously either. I didn't originally mention Hewat, as I wasn't thinking about him. My comments related to the practice of completing Years 11 and 12 over three years specifically for rugby purposes...

Forgot about Hewat, that's two 18yo Aus Schoolboys returning for Nudgee this year then. I have no axe to grind with Nudgee, but such is my distaste for the school rugby arms race I'd be happy for anyone other than them, ACGS or TSS to win it. Most entertaining result would no doubt be a BBC...

Good point GSP. In my view, the whole "doing Years 11 and 12 over 3 years" thing is a farce which really does nothing for the boys and is designed solely to boost the team's premiership prospects and in turn "market" the school. Gavin Luka and Calvin Pritchard returning to Nudgee this year...

Good report. I also saw the game, Ashgrove led 31-19 with just over 10 minutes to go and at that stage had 9 starters on the bench ( Barker were obviously sitting some starters off as well) but Barker's size and age advantage helped them limp over the line. Interesting that Barker took the only...

Tom McVerry back for Jeeps? He must be 35 by now..... Are the Prem Colts teams posted anywhere each week?

Does the Barker v Iona result suggest that Iona will really struggle this year? That would seem to be consistent with what I have read so far about Iona's 2015 team, but I'm only guessing.... Is Ashgrove playing Barker or Wesley College (WA) tomorrow? I'd be a bit surprised if they're...

Just look at the Grade 8 cricket team this year. GT are definitely doing something for the future. Hound, Yesterday at 5:27 PM Report Yep, I know GT recruited two Year 6/7 cricketers from Ashgrove at the end of 2014, apparently due to some "academy" style cricket program being run by Scott...

Hey IDM, why don't you answer your own question, and give some reasons for your opinion? Looks like you're backing SEC, what are their strengths and weaknesses in 2015? I don't know anything yet about MCA in 2015, but after last year's debacle at Ipswich (was it 3 Ashgrove tries disallowed...

Pretty sure that AIC cricket will be played in year groups next year, certainly Year 7 is so I assume that the same will apply to Years 8-10. Haven't heard about any structural changes to AIC rugby next year, but different considerations might apply to rugby, as opposed to cricket, due to...

I didn't know that about Cooky, that was a good move by Jeeps, he's a great man. And the petrol expenses to and from training wouldn't have exceeded $10....

I'm feeling a bit confused here...... Isn't Brett Picone just an employee of the player management business carried on by his brother Anthony?

Loving the thoughtful rugby analysis on the thread, riveting stuff... Keep it up boys, Term 3's almost over, so season's just around the corner!

You should try watching it first-hand, it's truly depressing, particularly for those who went to school under the old "luck of the draw" system.."

I was told yesterday by a very reliable source at Nudgee that Mafi probably won't play again this year due to his shoulder injury. If that's right, obviously a hooker will have to be added to the touring squad.

Thought he went OK today, a couple of ordinary decisions with ball in hand but generally pretty reliable. Having said that, I got the impression that he would have been close to the last guy picked for the NC side, no real stand-out attributes.

Went to see the NC v TSS game today. Very open and entertaining game given the wet, windy conditions, a really physical battle between two pretty evenly-matched teams played in great spirit. I was also told that Mafi's shoulder is no good such that he won't play again at any level this year...
