The Rebels "host" the Waratahs at Leichhardt Oval, 7:15pm Saturday 29/08/2020. Neither team had a good result last start but lets forget all that. This week the Mighty Rebels have the chance to end the Tah's miserable season. What more motivation could they need? Get it done boys!

Yeah but..... it was promoted as a trial game. Basically a Wallaby training run. It needs to be promoted as a stand-alone, special event featuring all of the best players in the country.

How did the AFL botch their SoO? The competition ran for over 100 years. It died out because people lost interest once the national comp started and because clubs didn't want to release players for the games. They didn't want their star athletes being injured in a made for TV novelty event...

I don't mind this idea. Promote it as an All Stars game. Have each team coached by a Wallabies assistant, overseen by Rennie. Teams would be picked and players allocated by the Wallaby selectors.

The problem with Mafi was that it was all about him. A bit like the Reds with Kerevi. He was (is) a great player but there wasn't much balance when he was around, plus massive penalty magnet. I'd take Isi, Delve or Higgers before Mafi. PA-E vs Weeks is a bit of a line ball. At their best...

I've heard mention that some players, including RH-P and Cotterell, would be joining the squad once they've served their quarantine. Anyone know whether English is doing the same?

I think a bit part of this perception about the "brutality" and "test match intensity" of the NZ derbies comes from the relative positivity of their TV commentators and press vs the Aussie moaners. The Kiwis are always talking up their own players and teams but the reality is they miss tackles...
