Mate if you're going to make inane comments at least understand what's being said. We're talking about a shield for whole of school results. The senior club rugby thing is just one tangent from that discussion. What happens to schoolboys when they leave school and go to colts is very relevant...

For clarity I'm talking about senior and colts footy, people not at school.

Yeah there's many points of view on it and they're all valid. Life's not black and white so I think it's fair to say we can both be right and wrong. As for the club rugby thing ... I guess what I mean is, you don't have your parents driving you to training or the games. You don't have all...

He can have it if that's what he wants. There's still incorrect or missing results on that site. I've been around long enough to know that. I think such a shield would do the opposite. Schools would just recruit from grade 8 instead. Kids who would normally plays As would get pushed down and so...

It's a good idea in principal but it won't happen. Grade 10 immersion pretty much makes an u15 trophy pointless. There's a host of other reasons too, but you get the idea.

Ok, same site ... The site says: 16B: TSS 55 d BBC 10; GT d BGS Yet you listed a score for GT v BGS Also most 16B teams played and beat BSHS, yet no game is listed in that round between TGS and BSHS. Now it may not have been played, but then we can't count the BSHS games actually played in...

Would you mind posting the link you have used. You have results not listed on the QLD GPS site.

Umm ok. You mean each schools rugby director sends a text to the guy who sends it to the papers? Not many rounds ago this forum talked about 16b results from last year and we couldn't find certain results. They're missing.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2014

Well it's pretty much unprovable given even the official GPS stats are missing games.

TSS and GT won more games than NC across each age group and team in 2013. That doesn't count the teams that never played another school in a proper round game like the Gs however.

Ok... Back on schoolboy rugby. Anyone know How has Downlands been this year, particularly Their A's in each age group?

You talk like its a zero sum game. NC would be very competitive with their depth if they stopped pursuing quality players. That is a fact. But they would not be as dominant. Period. It also wasn't a throw away line, rather a fact.

Depth helps, but <> success A school with depth will be more successful more often, but it's just one factor.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2014

I'm not sure what that has to do with the point? Numbers participating don't translate to quality in the top XV in an age group. If that was the case there'd be other schools performing better as well. Hey Nudgee actively pursue quality players. We all know this. Good on them. That's the way...

This is why Nudgee is often referred to as the Queensland Institute of Sport. It's ok, if that's what they want to do ... As long as the kids know this is why they're winning. Not because of great coaching or exceptional effort.

You misread my post, I covered and summarised a lot in a very short time, so perhaps it was misleading. That $1000 I referred to was a criticism of what some people call scholarships, which often is just help with things like text books. I know of two indigenous players on such a deal. As for...

That was back in 2009, I think the rules have changed since then. I doubt in reality the contract was worth much at all.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2014

I'm not picking on you specifically Ear but you guys throw around words like contract, scholarship, or agreement etc when in truth they aren't anything like what's being implied. Most kids that people claim are on contract were simply given some kit from a club as a promotion or encouragement...

Even the contracts mean little, they don't amount to much money either. If you ask me, being on one of those "contracts" isn't worth much. Needless to say however the NC u14 A side are good. It's a shame all that talent goes to one school rather than spread around. These boys won't learn...
