So effectively the new system changes that to be like a financial year. Technically 1st XV is simply OPEN, so there is no age requirements or restrictions.

Umm, this system means some kids won't play with their classmates. If you're 15 before July in a given year and in grade 9, you'll end up playing U15s instead of U14s with your classmates.

Better check that mate, the age rule started this year. Many kids found themselves playing up a year. If it's found a school isn't abiding by the age rules, I'm sure it will be remedied Having said that, if you were 16 and in grade 10, even under the old system you would have played U16 mate...

You play based on your age, so if you're in grade 9 but 15 by the month cut off, you will play in u15. By the sounds of it, the boys you speak of will play up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So you think swapping at #9 and #10 caused issues? What would be the reason they were changed? The #10 was concussed pretty early anyway, so the B's fly half was thrown in the deep end. Regardless, The #9 (who usually played #10) was still defending at #10, and the kid who replaced the #12...

Maybe because there were several concussions/injuries from that Nudgee game, as well as a sick player who still played in the game. Not to mention a concussion early ended the game for the GT #10. Taking that into account, there was just one change not forced on the team by injury.

U14A – NC 59 d BSHS 7, IGS 29 d BGS 7, BBC 12 drew GT 12, TSS 10 drew ACGS 10. Ignoring Nudgee, this 14s age group is really tight!!! GT also drew with TSS round #2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TSS beat BBC, TSS and GT drew, and IGS beat TSS. Round to round comparisons are flawed but if BBC can get within 30 points of NC, then I can see a few teams doing better.

Surely the much lauded NC U14A side are undefeated too? In fact after 3 rounds there's a few schools undefeated. Am I right that IGS U14A has a fair whack of Sunnybank playing for them?

The Brumbies have a great setup. I know To'omua was picked up right out of school, supported, developed, and now look at him! For more than just the very few special players like the Beale's and Cooper's of the world however there just isn't enough demand to justify the costs. The NRC might...

I said it earlier in the forum, and I'll say it again. Most of the time when someone tells you a kid is on a "scholarship" or is on "contract" the reality of it is quite different to the way it sounds.

Does anyone know how the current makeup of Australian Super Rugby sides relate to the Schoolboy program versus everyone else. I guess it pretty much boils down to private school versus public schools students, and while crude that's still a good indicator of the conversion rate. Any idea?

That's a fair point that one. I'm still opposed to it, but that's my personal view but if it was an option I'd like to see how an all school shield plays out. I'd be skeptical however.

No you're spot on. The majority of kids know, they look at results, etc. No one is arguing to stop tracking the score in a game. In the context of the discussion we're having about an all school shield it's just another emphasis on winning we don't really need. It's fine if a bunch of kid's...
