I really related to Queensland Country in the NPC. I went to see them whenever they played in Toowoomba and there was always a decent crowd and great atmosphere. The main issue was they needed a semi-permanent base, but sponsorship (and probably broadcasting) requirements had them play most of...

    Queensland Reds 2025

And Darling Downs still a really strong rugby area producing many good players - men and women. Plus, some big companies based in Toowoomba that support rugby, eg Wagners, FKG, Black motor group and Mort and Co.

    Chiefs v Reds 7/6 QF

Long shot but does anyone know a pub in Toowoomba that will be showing the game?

    Wallabies 2024

Reg, how did Hoopert go against the Reds? I missed the game and haven't been able to catch it. He was close to Wallabies before his injuries and I thought he looked good in his first two comeback games.

Round 13: Force v Waratahs Saturday 5:35pm Perth time

How on earth can you say this is his level with such certainty? How could you possibly know that? He was great for Australian Under 20s, played well for Australia A and has been consistently excellent at Super level. Beggars belief that so many keyboard warriors write him off so easily.

Western Force v Fijian Drua Saturday 11 May, 7:55pm WST

Harry Hoopert back. Good on him - it must have been a miserable couple of years for him.

    Queensland Reds 2024

We're still in the 80s up here. Mind you the music's not bad and I reckon FM Radio is the future.
  8. The Phoenix

    Queensland Reds 2024

Queensland is more than Brisbane. Would certainly get some use up here in Toowoomba.
  9. The Phoenix

    Western Force 2025

Koteka is okay to start playing again in August.

Another savage hit piece by Jessica Halloran in The Australian today (all timed perfectly to have bad rugby news at the same time as the over the top coverage of the NRL Las Vegas Game), but this quote from Phil Waugh is concerning. "When asked by The Australian on Thursday whether a...

    Wallabies 2024

Play it at Ballymore on a Sunday afternoon like in the good old days. Rugby then beers under the grandstand, or wherever the equivalent bar is at the new stand.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Not defending him, simply stating what they are doing.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

From what I understand, the Crown Prince, who virtually rules Saudi, is preparing for a life after oil and is trying to recalibrate the country and open it up. He is easing restrictions on women, eg they can now drive, and building new "Western Cities". He has also clamped down on the Mullahs...

For heaven's sake everyone, get a grip. We have been losing players since rugby league began. The problem with this site and The Roar is that most posters have no knowledge of the history of our game. I have been watching players switch codes since I've been following rugby. We lose them and we...

I often think back to the distant past when I was first taught how to tackle as a 5 year old and it was drummed into us to go low around the hips and most importantly make sure your head was on the side that wouldn't be landed on by the tackled player as he fell. I can't believe how many top...

Much better for people from the country who have to drive home after the game as well.

National competitions are real problems for all codes below their top league. AFL and NRL don't have anything and the new A League second division is basically Sydney and Melbourne. Coming from Toowoomba, I actually liked the NRC and I think there was buy in for Qld Country at least, especially...

    Lions Tour 2025

I went to Optus Stadium in Perth a few years back for the first Test played there - when we thumped the All Blacks. Paid a fortune for Wallaby Gold tickets but needed a Sherpa guide and oxygen to help me get to my seats. Not making that mistake again.

Hear Hear! He was my favourite player growing up. In such a star-studded backline for Queensland and Wallabies he was just a no nonsense, understated but key player. And everything he has done since has seemed to have mirrored his role on the field.
