    Rebels v Brumbies(Development Squad) 19th Feb Albury

This will be the Rebels only Trial match. The Brumbie Runners have offered to give them some competition. Will be a good chance to see the Brumbies dirt trackers in the afternoon before comparing them to the thoroughbreds that night. The Rebels will need to blow the gaskets out before their...

    Southern Inland Rugby 2021

The Brumbies are playing a Trial in Lavington on the 19th of February. Because it is the first round of the Super Rugby AU season, they will be sending their development squad and players who didn't quite make the cut for the thoroughbreds. This is the only trial for the Rebels who have the bye the first...

Gold. I wondered if this is who you meant.

    Southern Inland Rugby 2021

I'm pretty sure it's in the SIRU competition rules that players can't be paid, with exceptions for travel, accommodation, scholarships etc. The competition rules would fall under the SIRU constitution. However, investigating cases would be extraordinarily problematic I imagine. There was a...

I suspect you might be overthinking it. I doubt any Rugby club in the region truly has the assets to be paying players. We've only ever looked at jobs and accommodation, despite what gets kicked around on social media. If players in our region want to get paid, and they are good enough, then the...

I think 1st Grade has 16 games and 2nd Grade has 18 games. Maybe

I don't have a problem with a club picking and choosing. Reading between the lines, I'd suggest Leeton may be light on numbers and are offering a 3rd Grade based on Old Boys etc that are less willing to train and travel. I think we tend to view clubs from our own experience, and advice from...

IMHO there should definitely be a payment system for referees. It’s almost ludicrous that there is not. I remember in the 80’s kids could earn $20 being a line umpire in low grade AFL games. We shouldn’t underestimate the value of a few $$ to young kids looking to get involved, and likewise we...

I’m calling all 3 Grand Finals as draws at FT. I think that would finally send Jack over the edge.

    Southern Inland Rugby 2020

I agree 100%. I think it’s been a great year for Rugby in the region. SIRU have done a great job to provide the support and encouragement to actually see a competition proceed. The clubs have worked together more than any season I can remember, it may even set a precedent for future years. We...

    Southern Inland Rugby 2020

Coming in to the finals I would suggest there are 3 short priced favourites. 1sts City 2nds City Women CSU My logic on the 2nds is that having a solid 1st grade season, has freed up fringe players for the dirt trackers. I doubt City will lose another game in either grade

Apparently Dual Registration is a thing. A couple of girls played for Aggies v Steamers and then an hour later played for Waratahs v Leeton. SIRU advised that it was legitimate.

My bad. Missed the sarcasm memo. As for the First Grade comp, yeh I fully support it. If it’s an opportunity for a club that didn’t play finals last year to play this year then more power to them. The asterisk on the 2020 competition will be forgotten soon enough.

    Southern Inland Rugby 2020

Yeh well thats pretty offensive to be honest. All the clubs and SIRU have been working very hard to make some sort of season out of 2020. The coaches and committees across the region have all been dealing with the same issues as everyone else in their workplaces and their homes, and on top of...

    Southern Inland Rugby 2020

I was fairly vocal early on, saying we should just can the season, however after talking to the players and coaches in our club along with the other presidents in the region I have come a full 180 degrees. Returning to Play is as much about supporting the welfare of the players as it is abiding...

9 Aussie Rules clubs within 40km. That’s cute :) Try 6 competitions and 40+ clubs in a 40km radius..... Anyway, I agree with the general media analysis. I think it is directly SIRUs responsibility to get our message out there. Social Media presents well when you’re listing numbers at an AGM...
