    National U/16 Championships 2012

I have heard tell that during the 90's an Australian U16 team actually played "test" fixtures against our mates across the ditch.

    Where is JON hiding?

One of my snouts tells me that JON will be judged positively, if only from a commercial (profit & loss) perspective. Word is that with no significant inbound tour during the world cup - finances resembled ma Hubbard's cupboard. With the lions coming on an old fashioned, full strength, multi...

    Where is JON hiding?

Are you serious - JON is to Rugby what Malcolm Fraser & Sir John Kerr were to constitutional reform! He's not going to take heed of any "grandfatherly" advice type. He's been a crash or crash through type of guy since day 1. We all rejoiced in his first incarnation as he shook the house and got...

2012 Rugby Championship Round 6 Game 2 Argentina vs Australia - 6 Oct

whatever you're on, please share it around!

    Waratahs 2013

Behind every good first XV, there is a strong second XV! Without genuine contest for spots, nothing but complacency! Ever since the days of Tiian Strauus at the waratahs, player ego tripping has been mistaken for player power (as so handsomely developed by Macqueen at the brumbies). And this...

Australian Rugby Union (ARU) - Positivity Thread

Tricked me - I thought this was a link to a press release from the ARU announcing the sudden resignations of Dingo & JON.

A Proposal For A New Third Tier Competition In Australia

I don't recall the year (it was a while ago), but Brendan Cannon was making a comeback from injury before being named back into the Wallabies in time for a Bledisloe fixture. The 2 conditioning games were Syd Uni Vs Parramatta and Uni Vs Penrith (back in the day when Penrith & Parramatta...

    G&GR GRASSROOTS RUGBY THINK TANK

Ignoring country and the various sub species of schools there are no less than 5 "Unions" jostling for authority within the sport here in SYDNEY. Each is left to do their own thing, and if a directive from on high does ever come through, it is surely adapted (note - not adopted) to suit the...

Oz Schools v NZ Schools Test & Tour

I see that AJRU will be naming an U17 merit team - Mr Taylor is getting pushy. I can't see this incarnation of AJRU having got this far without some support at ARU level, or at the least a lack of objection.

    Australian Junior Rugby Union

Given that NSWJRU has only 2 members - Sydney & Country Juniors, you have to wonder what they are upto to allow NSWJRU to get so apparently out of control. As to egos - i hear on good authority that the past president of MSWJRU had a healthy one.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Always makes me laugh - Trinity - well mentioned in this thread - apparently regularly refer to many things as "triangle" - it has to do with their school shield and the "trinity" or 3 aspects of God in Christian teaching - father, son & holy Spirit. A nice little irony anyway.

    National U/16 Championships 2012

SJRU vs ACT on Sun 16 Sep at Forshaw @12:45 Other games on the day - NSW vs ACT in 15s & 17s - [11:30 & 2:00 respectively]

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2012

My snouts suggests that this does not have Paddington fingerprints on it and that they may indeed be opposed to it - rather it appears to be the brainchild of the junior unions - NSW & QLD! It was a hot topic of conversation on the sidelines of a few GFs on the weekend. BUT yes - it has the...

    Schoolboy Rugby Violence

& we wonder why - go read the Scots v Shore blog and ask yourself how the GAGR guardians allow such critical refereee sentiment to be expressed in what I always assumed was a carefully edited section (match reports)

    Schoolboy Rugby Violence

& our next entrant in the pinhead of the year competition is in - a supporter for clocking an AR at Tantalon yesterday. The AR had refereed the previous game and obviuolsy done something to upset the nature of things - receveing the first whack from behind with no warning.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

Completely agree - what a slack sentiment to be expressing about schoolboys! Not worthy of GAGR land
