^^^ I have left diary note on the PC using Outlook "Tasks" functionality.

I think you can set IQ reminders well in advance if you use the Foxtel account on the internet, but as I have forgotten my Foxtel log on for the computer I can't confirm that.

The Foxtel Ap on the iphone (no passwords to remember!) will only go out as far as 2 October at the moment, so I come back to the "reminder and alarm" via Outlook Tasks.

My latest intel is the NSW U15 and U 17 now at Caloundra Rugby Club - 60 minutes north of Brisbane.
According to the U17 management team - will be playing a round robin type of competition. Please see below.
Will be interesting to see how Under 19s are factored in or not as last I heard they may fly up and down on the same nominated day. See what tomorrow brings when the team is notified!

I see that AJRU will be naming an U17 merit team - Mr Taylor is getting pushy. I can't see this incarnation of AJRU having got this far without some support at ARU level, or at the least a lack of objection.

I find the whole AJRU thing fascinating. It is interesting reading the annual reports from the President of this rather secretive organisation which are included in the ARU Annual Report.

The under 19's is an interesting beast. I wonder if there could be some boys tucked away in the school system, who are ineligible to play schools opens footy (under 18), that could be good enough to make a state U19 team. These boys may not be in local club colts programmes for whatever reason and therefore unseen/unknown to the U19 selectors.

Makes you wonder if we need another administrative body at national and State level to administer the Colts. Possibly the Australian Colts Rugby Union (ACRU), with NSW CRU, Sydney CRU, NSW Country CRU with similar for other state bodies. We need more administration and leadership in Rugbydom.

If you are U19 and good enough to play in a quality state side, you would be playing colts.
...or NYC in Mungo.
There is no need for another meaningless rep team.

I believe the U19 game is really a trial of sorts for two purposes

1. Possible National Academy spots, and

2. Possible candidates for the OZ U20 side for next year.

if this is so I don't think it is a meaningless exercise

For kids who are out of school and not playing colts?
National academy spots and U20's spots are currently all based on Schoolboy CV's,despite whatever anyone says.
look at some of the smokies that went to SA this year.
Just ask Sydney Uni who they are pushing for that didn't play schoolboys. Save the trouble of playing a selection trial for something that has already been decided.

All players involved in the group friom which the U19 side is selected are all playing colts and have been nominated by their clubs to attend. This current process is one of the new processes the ARU has adopted in trying to identify talent to be involved in those two things. I don't think any consideration is given to the school CV's other than the success a player has had at schools level has made him a person of interest. I just hope that Sydney Uni (who it is suggested had some influence last year) has less of an impact this year

So which U20's reps this year did not have either a Schoolboy CV or SU backing?
Why will the 19's process deliver a different outcome?

2. Don't know but it is something being done different and seems to target the actual playing ability rather than selecting based on a camp situation. It also provides a wider number of players to be considered. Originally there are 40 in the group in NSW and a squad of 25 will be selected. i assume that Qld is doing the same and that some of the other areas like ACt and WA may be doing something similar

Ok maybe there is a chance they they actually look at them this time.

I'd be interested in how Moeroa and Porch play considering they were picked over Tuttle and Placid, who I consider to be the two best players in the QLD GPS comp this year.

I think the coaches and selectors are similarly interested in working out their best combinations as they build up for the BIG one against the Schoolboy Darkness.

I don't think that the Coaches have nominated this team as their #1 team.
