The Relationship Between the Schools, the Clubs, the Unions and the ARU

Inside Shoulder is correct - POLITICALLY its all about affiliation. SCHOOLS - Individual schools affiliate to their organising union (in NSW - GPA, CAS , ISA etc. for the private schools & CHS for state schools). These organising bodies then affiliate to NSW Schools who in turn are...

The Awful Truth About The ARU's Financial Position

Ignoring the grossness (in every sense of the word) of JON's annual salary & final payout, the average cost of running the ARU from 2005 - 2010 [ignoring the one off expense of the ARC] was $79M and had been reducing steadily since 2006! In the last 2 years it has jumped to $88M & $105M. WHY...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

If you attend Milner oval on Finals day for the state age champs & the pool games for (particularly) the 14's & 15's you would be surprised how many clip board wielding directors of rugby from the GPS & CAS are in attendance. Thankfully (?) most of them have the manners not to wear their school...

    CAS Rugby 2013

my snout tells me young Clark is playing club rugby or such in New Zealand & yes - the boy had been there since before time, but the school, as I am told by more knowledgeable and closer to the action types, did very little to hedge their bets in this position. Time will tell.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

CHS may already be gone or going, but every "import" into the GPS / CAS system is another nail in the coffin of Club based junior rugby in Sydney, so it is damaging to the "fabric" of junior rugby.

Recording and Using Statistics For Rugby

Assuming you're coaching in SJRU U15 comp - you only get 5 opportunities to make subs in a game anyway - simplifies the equation a great deal. That - and my personal experience was if a parent didn't like how much game time their special needs child got - they told you!

    Schoolboy Rugby needs a review?

Yep $100k might be about it. But the 2 championships you reference are so much more than simple rugby tournaments now. The ARU use both for player education, coach development, referee development and referee coach development. By comparison, if you ask NSWJRU / SJRU what assistance they...

    GPS Sports Ranking (2013)

so what was the school ranking. No doubt many rowing athletes will feature in "athlete of the year" type considerations, but I was more curious in seeing the playing field for top dog school honours being more level.

    Schoolboy Rugby needs a review?

In truth I think the private schools (often referred to as independent schools) would in the most part reject the filthy ARU lucre because in the first instance they don't really need it and in the second , they would end up having to surrender bits of their independence. Certainly in Sydney...

    2013 S15 Referees

I think it will surprise people and show that Rugby is at times a very static game, or maybe that the referee is static. http://www.news.com.au/sport/rugby-gold/ref-cam-to-give-officials-eye-view-for-armchair-rugby-fans/story-fndpt9s1-1226581471253

    Schoolboy Rugby needs a review?

If you're ever going to stop pedalling in circles, you need a clear differential. School AGE Rugby & School BOY Rugby; oil & water, they are not the same thing! Yes they target the same resources but they move in their own circles. Rugby tears suggest that the schoolboy comp is haphazard - for...
