    Where to for Super Rugby?

Unfortunately, I believe the game in Australia is unsustainable at it's current level. We need to look to how soccer manages to be holding a reasonable position in Australia while sitting below both League and AFL in the public pecking order. I fear the only answer for RA is to accept it is a...

    Rebels 2018

I was being a tad glib with my pot plant comment however for a number of years Australian sides have sacrificed the scrum for open play. Nothing hurts a teams chances more than a scrum going backwards as the front row is dominated by their opposition. I certainly agree that a TH needs to...

    Rebels 2018

At TH I want a pot plant, a player who preferably cannot spell the word loose. LH sure the occasional run and carry, hit a few rucks and generally be the adventurous, devil-may-care love machine that is the want of all loose heads. Tight Head however is a man who should think that running is for...

I got a call from Sam Talakai last week. A really nice promotion.

He is dead to me. I never trusted him anyway, his eyes are too close together and I think he may have had questionable personal hygiene.

I am with Kevin on this. The lad is just being contrary by having just the one l in his name and I refuse to indulge such foolishness.

    The Wallabies Thread

The discussion is basically a discussion around Cheika's priorities. He wants his Backs to be purely attack focused and is willing to ignore their defensive frailties. However, he wants his forwards to be defense focused. McMahon, Hanigan and Hooper are all defensively efficient. They make a lot...

    Rebels 2018

Actually, I would suggest it is quite a deliberate use of the word. The true rugby followers will know enough about the ongoing dramas to know what Twiggy's "league" truly is and maybe by using the term league you may hook in a few of the less in the know.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And if you fail to show up the ARU response will be "See, we told you Rugby is unsustainable in the West." It is a Catch 22 situation, the spin will be in whichever way you go.

Unfortunately, when you go back to being an amateur sport.

I bet though that Grey wouldn't have said "I have this great defensive system and all I need to implement it is a 10, 12, 13 and 15 who would all struggle to tackle an old woman using a zimmer frame. Oh and just to really mix it up give me a 6 who gets blown over in a strong breeze. Rock solid...

Cheika gave the team a simple choice "If you can't say something nice about Nathan Grey ......"

World Rugby to trial experimental scrum & ruck Laws

The rule saying that the attacking team must strike at the ball concerns me. A principal reason that a front rower does not strike is to stabilise the scrum when under pressure. I can see this just leading to more collapsing as an unsteady and under pressure front row panic strike losing their...

Do we really think that they let him play with a broken back? Given our injury list I would have thought you sat out for a broken nail.

    Rebels 2017

I have not registered for the lap and will not. If this ends up being the rebels last game I do not see it as a celebration but as a slap in the face for those of us that have been there from the start. Before the Rebels started up I was a fan of Super rugby going to many a Tahs game and...

    What position did/do you play?

As my name very proudly displays I was a prop, loose head principally. On occasion I did slip back to 8 as I had reasonable handling skills for a big bloke. I also have a relatively low centre of gravity given I am 6' 2" so that helped in both positions. My playing days however are well and...

Rugby and the dismal failure of The Meat Machine

Broken Collarbone, fractured ankle twice, broken arm. Torn Hamstring three times and a completely buggered back. Multiple stitches in my head. I also once snapped a finger while trying to gently force an errant halfback's head up his own tradesman's entrance.

Wingers should be made to wear skirts, just so they are easier to recognise on the field. A new rule needs to be introduced whereby a front rower is allowed to punch just one half-back a game. The half-back can be from either team.
