    Waratahs 2014

JOC (James O'Connor) tried to link himself to the Brumbies and they wouldn't have a bar of it.

    Rebels v Waratahs, rd15 SR2013

Well done to the Rebels. They were substantially better on the night and their crowd was great, even on the TV. Back to the old, bad ways from the Tahs. Too much fart-assing around with the ball and not enough direct attack followed by quick recycles. That 22 phases that Marto was obsessing...

    Waratahs 2014

Great post. Is it (edit: a title) worth the cost? Yes, of course. But teams can't hamstring themselves financially with the salary cap in place. My point about the difference in value is that you can spend that money elsewhere, such as on a better bench or depth at hooker or whatever. Those...

    Rebels v Waratahs, rd15 SR2013

If by "down" you mean from Bondi to Centennial Park, then yes.

    Waratahs 2014

Even against the Kings he made too many kicking errors. Very good against the Stormers and Brumbies. I'd like to see a lot more good kicking before I'm convinced.

    Waratahs 2014

I think with both players it's about price. Lets assume they re-sign Izzy. At that point, KB (Kurtley Beale) is being signed as a 10. Is he an upgrade over Foley? Talent-wise, yes. But by how much? And is it worth the cost difference? You need good players across the park, not a handful of superstars. So if...

Must be the unpaid intern. Surely he/she can't get the sack! Who'll come up with the witty slogans?

Social Media Response to Wallabies Squad

If the best you can come up with is Folau and his pre-season top up, then I think your argument about bias in WAlly selections is all shot to shit. Btw, I think it's pretty clear from other conversations that you and I have an almost identical view of what the Wallaby team to face the Lions...

    Improving Wallabies 13s stock

My guess is that CFS is the future. I'm not sure that Folau is going to get a run there any time soon, assuming he sticks around. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has that position sewn up at the Waratahs and I don't think Cheika is going to move him. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has been excellent in almost every game and is a leader on the team...

FWIW, I would not have selected Dennis or Timani. I would have taken Kepu, because he's a decent scrummager and you need 4 props in the initial camp. I would have taken Horne, Barnes and Folau. To prove bias, you really need to show some kind of motivation. I'm yet to see a single argument...

Social Media Response to Wallabies Squad

I think you're putting this stuff into isolation too much. Palmer is injured, so who is the prop left out because Kepu was selected? If Deans wanted a lock/6 to train with the squad, then it makes sense to pick Dennis -- who was the alternative? Timani over Douglas does not support your Waratah...

Social Media Response to Wallabies Squad

I absolutely think Barnes should have been selected in the final squad too. I don't think my assessments assert "Tah favoritism" in 50-50 situations. I think they show that there weren't many 50-50 situations at all. As for years past, I don't quite see the issue here. Vuna, Hodgson, Davies...

Who are those in the squad, Scotty? Maybe Barnes was chosen "over" Cooper, but let's leave aside Quade since everyone has their own pet theory on his selection or non-selection. In my reading, the following Waratahs are contentious selections, at least for a reasonable proportion of posters...

I believe it's due to a major shift in HSBC marketing strategy globally. Hopefully Volvo signs up. Free cars for members!

Wise move. The whinge in the OP on this thread is like a best of the worst, right down to the "I'm a life-long Wallabies fan and maybe I just want them to lose so that maybe the stuff I reckon will happen." Piss off and support the Lions then, champ. I'm sure you'll get heaps cheap tickets...

Not you, but you can find posts like that in the 25 Man Squad thread, for example, and certainly all over the front page comments.

    Wallabies Watch

It's not meaningless as a measure, it's simply like all statistics: it needs to supplement the eye-test and not replace it. It's certainly more meaningful than "my impression is that..." ;)

Maybe Gagger can pass the hat around and we can all chip in for Newspoll to ask a statistically significant proportion of rugby fans what they think of Quade's selection?
